Well, to introduce myself, my name is cnc95fan.

I'm running 2 mods based on C&C:Renegade and am a large fan of E:BFD.

I wanted to point out what a lovely community you have here. I havn't seen a single flame fest, fight, argument, anything! These kinds of communities are hard to come by. And after over a year of working in the Renegade forums, I've had my fare share of flame fests. I just want to give this place a 5-Star rating, however you keep the flaming out, by means or suspending people or banning them, you are doing a great job.

Thanks.

To be honest we've had very few troublemakers over the years, especially since the PRP board was created, as it became somewhere for people to take out their frustration in a more constructive way.

Actually, if I remember correctly, the last time we banned someone for disruptive bahaviour was in 2005. Since then we've only banned a few spambots. The community deserves more credit than us moderators for keeping the forum mostly flame-free.

Probably because we've all grown up on the site these days, compared to 2001.

Well yes, that explains why "old timers" are not disruptive, but it doesn't explain why there are far fewer flames even among new members than there used to be. Are we attracting an older crowd than we used to?

I, for one, have been long under the delusion that FED is short for Fedaykin.

That's what I thought at first, too. The true origin of the name FED2k is a closely guarded secret (:D), but I'll give you a clue: the "D2k" part of it stands for Dune 2000.

I discovered this sight in december of 06 and i'm 21 now.  Not sure other's ages or ages of the new members 5 years ago.

So you were 19 or 20 when you joined FED2k. I was 13 when I discovered it and 14 when I started posting. How many 14 year olds do you see joining the forum these days? Hardly any at all. I wonder what the reason for that is...

well, from what I can gather you old timers joined through the common denominator of the Dune PC games.  It seems like not a lot of discussion is happening on those threads due to no recent Dune game releases, there is more discussion in the general or the PRP forum.  I joined because I enjoyed the high activity on the PRP forums.  PRP I think probably attracts an older crowd.

Yes, I think you're right... I never thought that people could join specifically to post in PRP. But I'm very much a PRP poster myself, so I'm glad to hear that. :)
