Presidential summit

On this friday will meet presidents Putin and Bush here in Bratislava. While it is turning whole city into a castle, it became prohibited to build snowmen in the center, and even Rammstein concert had to be delayed (tough we take Bush's promised speech on Hviezdoslav Quarter as an equal action  ;D ), we all see how our country becomes a center of the world... At least for the moment. Perhaps deed of Jastrzembski and Weiser, who went from ambassades here into presidential aide teams, perhaps of our ehm...loyalty.

I've seen Bush egged a couple years ago, his security completely surrounded him in a wall covering his entire body up.

I guess after the pretzel attack, eggs could be dangerous. Any idea when Bush will get pied?

Most political figures in Canada get pied at least once. :)

Dick Cheney's limo one day (Was it the innauguration?) was pelted with snowballs, the Secret Service jogging alongside refused to take the snowballs for him.  However I wouldn't reccomend snowballing Bush, the Secret Service might react...badly.

It seems like Slovakia is attracting big meetings these days... last summer, it was NATO. Now, Bush and Putin. Is it its situation as a rising post-Communist, East-European (un-France/Germany, more neutral), and smaller country which bring this? It is a bit like these UN meeting where a big player wont propose something to not offend another big power, but will bring a small unimplicated-neutral-smaller country to propose it.

Well, Slovakia isn't neutral, and I cannot say it is smallest as well. We are in middle of Europe, on the gate between russian and western sphere. Don't forget we left solely pro-russian politics only in 1998, so the bonds are still felt, especially economical. Perhaps in a decade there will be same actions on Ukraine or Serbia as well. Both sides want us, as the allegiances were not yet sealed as ie with Greece, so best to talk about it is here  ;D

I agree it isn't smallest/perfect neutral, only MORE neutral and smallER than certain other possibilities. Being more neutral than France towards US is not hard to beat though. As for smaller, I don't know if this way of using smaller countries within bigger countries' plans is present here. And thanks for the answer, it shows a bit more of the "game" :)
