Deutsche Demokratische Republik... no, I'm just kidding.

I hope there won't be another war, considering that Syria and Iran are two different "fronts" of Iraq, so the Americans will have a hard time fighting them both, considering the new alliance between these two states.

Maybe an attack on North Korea isn't such a bad idea after all :D ...

What makes you say that?

Think of it this way. U.S invades Iran, Iran Nukes U.S, U.S nukes Iran.......It might go on like that, in the mean time I live in Chicago which is the third largest U.S city, We would make a nice target.

So don't invade. I would have thought that was obvious.

If only it were up to me..... But it's not, It's up to a war monguering Texan with aspirations of an American Empire spanning the globe....

One of the reasons I'm pleased to see this alliance. Anything that makes life more difficult for Mr Bush has merit with me. Don't try to challenge this, there are few exceptions.

LOL, I would agree if not for the fact that if Bush goes ahead anyway, It will be ME and my fellow american citizens that pay. Four people from my High School have already died in the mideast because of that douche and I do not want to hear of any more.

i dont think Iran can reach USA with a nuke.

and it *wouldnt* be a tit-for-tat type of thing either..... you have to remember that some of these foreign countries (including Iran) are merely the size of one of our states.  We could take them down far easier than they could take us down as we have 50 times the landmass.

Iraq is smaller than the size of Texas i believe (not sure exactly).

"Renewed their alliance"- that kinda implies that they were allies before, wich they never were, or my memory fails me.

Neither has anything to fear from the US, not for Bush' term anyway. The US army simply does not have the manpower to occupy a country like Iran or even Syria, not while they already have so many troops abroad. An economic/diplomatic isolation is what they should fear.

They have always had EXTREAMLY good relations. In the Iran-Iraq war, Syria was the only mid-eastern country to not break off relations with Iran. They may have well had a Secret alliance.

like that will stop them trying. ;)

true.

America warned North Korea to behave right before the Iraq war started.... the US claimed that they could fight a war in Korea and Iraq simultaneously.

Oh they could do it, but it would be a struggle and they would need the support of their allies, but I have no doubt that America could take on the 'Axis of Evil'. Whether they should is another matter.

The US could easily defeat a very large number of countries at once. However, it cannot occupy a large number of countries at once. Can you imagine American troops stretching from Syria to Iraq to Iran to Afghanistan? That's a huge chunk of the Middle East. Occupying it would be a nightmare, and would most certainly require a draft back home. It would be political suicide for whoever is in charge of the American government at the time (not to mention being military and economic suicide as well).

yeah, the US doesnt have the guts to try anything to Iran. Iran is a whole new animal compared to Iraq. Not only this but as many of you have pointed out, Iran has mingled with a power that is more destructive and more menacing than Iraq has ever really had.

The fact though that Syria and Iran are allied though shows the curruption of Iran. Syria itself is a serious threat to Israel and is obviously hostile to the U.S. Obviously this is an alliance as well for the protection of both, but mainly Syria. Syria has been a target of america for a bit now, and now that a tangable alliance exists there is no doubt now that Syria is much safer than it was.

Iraq was a silly choice to attack in my opinion. Syria has many more open ties to terrorism, and has even been more hostile and volitile towards the west as well. I cant stand Syria. the country is so full of crap, and is filled with deceits and lies to the west, and other countries as well.

Like many others, I believe that Syria holds the key to the missing Iraqi WMDs. In fact I believe that they were moved to Syria while the U.N. inspectors came in yeras ago, and that when the U.S. invaded tehy were stashed there and could not be taken back for usage against the U.S.

grrr syria makes me soooo angry. And whats worse, so many western nations are so quick to not attack Syria's actions, especially with how it deals with Israel.

I'm sorry for you guys :-[

I just hope it wont get so low as to affect the citizens by dramatic ways like conscription and such. There's enough blood Iraqi blood already :-

A part of me wants to see this texan get chainsaw massacred with the rest of this country, even though I will be engulfed in those same flames.

Also, the whole thing about some of those countries being the size of a state...do you know how many people Iran has? Over sixty million...it's very similar to occupying Germany or France, except with a population composed of religious zealots ready to sacrifice themselves.

Have to agree with Devil's Advocate.  It would be impossible to occupy them with a population of fanatics willing to die to drive out the invaders.

Personally I don't think we could occupy them without a Draft.

Sadly, I think that in the last year they passed some legislation so that US citizens going to Canada can still be drafted. It's moving, and it's moving pretty fast... Laws are changed in a blitzkrieg advance.
