Well that's it. The future of Canadian film is officially dead.

I have a friend who's taking film studies at school.  The Prof decided that they'd pick the movie the class would analyze democratically so all the students made a list of there favourite films, submitted them, and the class would then vote on which of the most common movies on the lists to watch.

The Girl Next Door won.

THE GIRL NEXT DOOR!

At least Bruickheimer has plenty of future directors and writers to chose from....

The girl next door isn't a canadian film.  It's a horridly shitty American pie-ish teen sex "comdedy" whose only saving grave is Elisha Cuthbert in some very revealign clothing.

Perhaps you missed that part.  This is a college class.  Think about it. :P

But yeah, that's pretty sad.  But hey, at least you don't have Bush as your president.

sheesh mahdi, I have to agree with you that, well, that is bullshit.lol

Network, Network is the greatest film ever made. It is the jewel of all flicks in my film loving eyes.

I mean how about other classics though? there are so many films that could have been chosen. What were the runner ups? What did you choose mahdi?

I'd choose "Andrei Rubliov". A russian film. One of the best films ever made.

And "21 grams".

And "AI","Saving Private Ryan","A Bridge too far","The longest day" and many war movies...

There are some great romanian films, but I seriously doubt you ever heard of them ;D

Haven't seen the movie, but it looked pretty stupid, Ms. Cuthbert's hotness aside.  Then again, I'm more a fan of substance than substance abuse.

Hehe, pun.

Two of my favourite Canadian films are "Treed Murphy", about a businessman who's chased up a tree by punks, and has to pit them against each other to escape (the whole film takes place in and around a tree in Toronto), and "Cube", about a bunch of people trying to escape a mysterious torture device, made of cube-shaped cells.

Bleh! vomit-smiley-015.gif

And this is education?  I can't think of a more pathetic piece of riff-raff to pass for good cinema.  The only reason I can possibly conceive of for someone wanting to watch a movie like that is because they're too young  or too proud to rent porn.
