There are programs that can split large files up into smaller files. You could then send these smaller files to the other person, or simply upload them onto the internet (one at a time if you do not have the webspace).

I forget what the program is called. Ask if you think it will solve the problem.

Is burning the file onto a CD not an option and then sending it in the post?

If this is not an option, open up winRAR and add the file you wish to an archive, then type in how many BYTES you wish to put into each part. winRAR will then create different parts of the size that you precify.

@goba....yea the server is somewhere in our city...its a good fast server, so that i dont know, y it aborted at the middle of the upload time....that can have a few causes....for example my connection. who knows. so what kinda clients r u talking bout?

to send it with the post is sometimes not an option, if i wanna be faster.

to split those files into smaller parts gives me the advantage, that i dont have to start from beginning again when it crashes....it is for sure an option.

im looking for a small prog like msn messenger....there u can do it, but msn cant handke such big files, and it is slow.

has some1 experiences with "Internetinformation Server, IIS" its shoulda be part of windows xp, and it makes ur pc to a server, and there should be a folder wher u can place ur data, so the other1 type in MY IP + the filename. this sounds good to me...but is it save?

IIS for WindowsXP [ only Professional ] is an web and FTP server. Safe is a matter of personall subjection on this matter. Others would be able to access your FTP server.... although if your connection drops out he won't be able to get it.

I would suggest an FTP client that can resume a disconnected session like Gobalopper mentioned.

just use some IMS like MSN or ICQ or else make a .rar archive with that file and split it into ... maybe 20 smaller files. so you got 20 files, 30mb each which you can easily send. to unpack the whole file again you need all 20 files then...

I would avoid MSM/ICQ/etc... as it is very slow.

if you sent it in the post it would of got there by now  ;)

Do FTP clients exist that allow you to resume an UPLOAD?

I would just split the rar up as I suggested, put them all in a directory and then make the contents of that directory listed.

According to turboFTP I got the impression that even servers that do not support one ype of resum euploads might well support another (append when write from position X doesnt work). Either way, it is possible. So kalony...its up to you !

LoL... it's only as slow as your or your friends internet connection is. when I send data to friends who can receive that fast as I can send there's no problem and the speed is full speed. I couldn't upload it on any server faster because my bandwith is at the limit, no matter if msn or ftp...

For some, it is, by very many people experience depressingly slow file transfers. This seems to be because MSN Messenger's main file transfer port is blocked or something, and it then uses the http port (I read MSN's explanation). I may be wrong in my explanation, but it seems reasonable.

MSN is verry horrible in finding an internet connection. . . it finds one even if most porst are blocked.. .typically a MS thing . . :-P

Besides that. MSN can seperate internet adresses and local adresses. For example, if you are on a local network and want to tranfer files with MSN from one computer to the other your speed will / can be amazing. For some stange reason even faster then uploading a file to a Windows fileserver.

Anyways, that aid over the speed of IRC, MSN, ICQ or whichever protocol. It can be fast and it can be slow. . .all depending on your ISP, the server and client conenction.
