drahgoon Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 If you use that kind of childish justification for leaving, then to be honest you aren't welcome here shygirl.how long have you been @ fed2k??? she is probably the most welcome person here... does anyone else agree with me???
Kiyouta Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Yeh she was no doubt very welcome, but her robot in a bathing costume wasn't lol :P
ophiruslevus Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Me too, i'm with ya drahgoon, I posted here earlyer but its gone from some reason. (lol)Yea, the signature was big, but you must admit it was fun to look at every time you saw it, the way the light reflected from it realy shows the artist's talent!
erjin999 Posted November 25, 2004 Posted November 25, 2004 Heck I didnt mind it. Better then...say a bunch of numbers.... ;D
ophiruslevus Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Are they koded or have some kind of meaning?
erjin999 Posted November 26, 2004 Posted November 26, 2004 Doesn't matter, the point is that she had a nice pic which I for one didn't mind.
gunner154 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 whoever shygirl is, i don't know. 'cause she was gone when I came back, so I'm in no place to say anything. Fed2k's gonna miss you, not me (you know why).but based on what i have read, I think if the sig takes up more than half the screen it shouldn't be there. such a thing should have been placed in the Rules/FAQ (i have not checked it and i'm not going to, so don't tell me if it's there or not, I don't care).Nema was right. But you should have 'set the record straight' a loooooong time ago.Just my 2 cents' worth ;D
erjin999 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 "Half the screen" would depend on the screen resolution.
gunner154 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 it would still be irritating to many nonetheless.
erjin999 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Obviously it was annoying to the people who could do something about it.Personally, I didnt mind.
gunner154 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 It will be a bit annoying to me (depends on what picture it is and how big exactly), but nevertheless tolerable (I have run into some that fill the whole screen. Someone linked to a picture file that is hosted by something, but later that image was just replaced by 'Image hosted by XXXX', and that replacement was HUGE, meant nothing in the signature, and was hellotta irritating. Think that.)Irritating to those who could do it? That one's true without any doubt...
erjin999 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 It was a digital picture of a woman wearing...a kind of swim suit if I remember correctly. So no problems from me 8)
ophiruslevus Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 Even if I didn't like it (and I did), some people who contributes to this place may do things other can't. That's my point of view, and having a big signature is a minor thing and can be ignored!
erjin999 Posted December 9, 2004 Posted December 9, 2004 You mean its unfair that some have power while others dont. Control in the hands of a few select bunch ?...yeah. But should we have had a vote ? Would we have a vote each time someone does something like that, i.e. big sig, funny pics, etc...
Dante Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 People with slow connections could have trouble with large images. It's just being fair to them.
Andrew Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 In conjunction with what Dante said, those users may not want to turn off signiture images because they may enjoy seeing some signiture images. My largest sig image is 12.5 kb. Three of them are 468*60, but I chose that size because of the Internet Advertising Bureau's recommendation for the Interactive Marketing Units ad formats. It only exceeds the rule No, try to limit sig images to max 400 pixel width and max 100 pixel height. People are here to read messages not look at your sig images. in width by 69 pixels, but makes up for it in the shortened height from 100 to 60. Heck even the ads on Fed2k use that size.Point in CaseDon't have images that exceed the height (by much if at all), as that mostly affects reading posts.Hopefully most people are running 800*600 resolution at least, so an image that does not distort the format of the posts width wise would be somewhat acceptable, although keeping it near the limits would be appreciated.Don't use a .BMP as your signiture image. Well maybe if that bug was fixed, but I do not know if it has been.I do not think a vote is required.
nemafakei Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 In case you're wondering, generally, I question height but not width, unless it's seriously oversized. Animated gifs are ok, if small. That does not mean just using forum code to resize them: the files must be small.
gunner154 Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Well, Nema, your avatar moves a lot ;) that's a gif. Heh (I know it's not a sig. Just a comment.)And is it just me, or is Edric O's avatar's eyes blinking red lights?
Andrew Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 No they don't. It is your imagination.Help! Edric O's eyes are controlling me! I can't stop looking at the blinking red eyes. Mmmm, Communism.:-X
Andrew Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Did you read my small print??Was meant as a joke. :)
ophiruslevus Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 This subject has been discussed so many times and I hate to bring it up once again, but I feel an important question was not asked, everyone can answer it because it refers to us all:Does a big signature justify the leaving of a forum member?Or in other words, would you delete the signature if you know the member will leave?
gunner154 Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 I guess we all have rules. You see, we must compromise and accomodate, like my Social Studies textbook said. Nema could have just kindly told shygirl not to use such a big image. If shygirl refuses, however, Nema will have the right to remove it. Otherwise, Nema would be a corrupted and/or weak moderator (eg. "if you insist on me removing my signature, I WILL QUIT!!" Nema gives in.)If shygirl, however, agrees with Nema and is willing to remove the signature, all will be well. Threatening to leave should not be able to sway the decision of the moderator, no matter how indispensible the offender.
Marcel71 Posted December 10, 2004 Posted December 10, 2004 Or in other words, would you delete the signature if you know the member will leave?Ask it differently: Would u leave if you can't get it exactly your way?We are not small children who can't have a cookie from Mom, and then start crying and ingnoring Mom.It is a lesson we have to grow up with..If she already can't stand this how would she handle real life working environment... I have had much worse 'problems' (if you can even call this a problem) then this, and still i am working ::)I 100% believe the poor girl is stepped on her pride in a way, which she can't tolerate...TOO BAD, GROW UP !!!!!!!!!!!! >:(
