It's not trust me.  200 Devastators against swarms of Deviators and Laser Tanks as a thousand Atreides Light Infantry appear from another side, I've done it.

I've played quite a few games like that, mostly when I was new.

1. They are boring.

2. It upsets the game balance entirely.

3. It can definitely lag as a result of computer speed.

4. You hit the game unit limit pretty damn quickly.

30mins is way too long and people like appllo or cybo would totally splatter you anyway. There definately is a limit on buildings and i would think units as well. game does get laggy even with good connection and good comps when high numbers of units move attack simulataniously.

Anyway if you are fighting evenly matched player games can go on for hours without a silly cease fire at the start. i personal love the long game but only when its action all the way just sitting build up for 30 minute to then just have a mass battle is pointless IMO. ;)

The unit and building limits are probably different for each user based on:

1) maximum Graphics GPU memory and pixel handing capability

2) RAM memory of gamers PC (plus possibly cpu speed)

3) Quality setting of EBFD graphics

These are what normally impact application performance.

yeah we hit the limit often.....when we built on all rocks, and the game is getting realy big, than u cant place buildings, and no unit come out of the production houses....

that do not depend on the 64 mark-limit....but i guess, than we have 300-400 units all over the map

It's nothing to do with application performance. It is a programmed number of units/buildings allowable on the map at any one time. This is obvious since I have only encountered it in multiplayer, where every user has different specs.

In that case you should find that you hit "the limit" more often when you play against many players than when you play against only 1 or 2 other players. (Which may explain why Dunenewt did not get a problem playing against 2 other players?)

As Apo says, it doesn't seem to be anything to do with the hardware. The units stop coming out of the buldings, like they do if the building is blocked.

well scar and i built on every rock.... in a 1 vs 1 .... and we made thousands and thousands of units....

and we hit the unit/build cap.....

you cannot make anymore units and you cannot place anymore buildings... and superweapons wont even fire !!!!!

You say it has never happened to you dunenewt?..... well just get a few friends to do nothing but build build build on fishers plains... build on all teh rocks ... fill them up and then just make as many units as you can without killing them.

You will eventually hit the cap like everyone else.

It exists trust us.

I know we all disagree, so let us agree on one thing - some games hit limits, some dont, only the EBFD programmers know how or what limitations they built into EBFD and the associated maps.
