Getting More players on Emperor

I just had a crazy though, as I was bidding on another copy of EBFD... If we go on e-bay, and "ask seller a question" maybe we can get them to stop the auction and play online(maybe for the first time).. So maybe I can get one seller to stop and play, then another...

Also I've been on WOL lately, and I've been asking the newbies if they know about www.dune2k.com. 90+% say no. (I suspect the 10% are good players under a different nic... which I confirm when they kick my butt :) ) But I think if new players to the game learn that there is a community, and ppl to help them get better, their might be more activity... So if we all make it a point that if there is a new nic in a game, we tell them about the stragety section here... Thoughts?

I recall the 1st time I played on-line. I had had this game since the day it came out, but didn't bother doing any on-line play. Could do all the campaigns with no problem, Then I went online about a year ago, and I got my head handed to me each game. I do know this board, along with a list of helpful players (Vilgent Rul3r, Om3n, Zilents, and more) got me to "almost good".. If it wasnt for Fed2k and a few that took me under their wing, I wouldn't have quit on-line play too.

Sounds a little unrealistic but It's worth a try I suppose. :)

It would be great to get more players again, maybe have real competitions again hehe.

On the other note and I'm guilty, how many times have you played a newbie, and just totally blew them away. Whats the odds that w/o help that person will continue to play? At least if we can all point them here, they may get better which means they stay around longer.

At least thats my .02 worth.

The more people that know about the site the better. If people visit they are less likely to stop playing due to the community that is already here. Plus they can start using the ladder. :)

To play them at the same , sounds more like a Nightmare to me, I mean Warskum on his own is almost impossible to beat, with two players against him.!

I have started to help out newbies and i do c some smart newbies who learn really fast and some guys just dont seem to get it thats its not good to build walls......anyways i will try to help out newbies as much as i can.

Actaully dark was telling a n00b to keep building walls, so i suggest he stops that and actually gives some good advoce.

First time in my live i heard the word loggerhead(had to search in the dictionary what it means ;D), anyways this really happened and i know dark was makin fun of that n00b, but the n00b listend to him and he made lots of walls, it was kinda funny to c, but u cant help n00bs by telling them to make a wall.

That's what Ken says, but n00b and newb are both abbreviations of the same word and thus logically must mean the same.
