Nav made a good thread about this.

my university meal consists of. (which I only had like 5 times this month, I'm lucky)

University Meal

There is a certain way to make a proper university meal. This meal includes a toasted ham and cheese sandwich, a glass of water and chocolate chip cookies.

The most important part of the meal is the sandwich itself. Get two pieces of bread from a loaf of bread. Put the bread in the toaster and let it toast. When this is happening you can make the preparations before it pops up, if your quick enough. First get a plate, butter knife and glass; second get all the ingredients for the meal. This includes mayonnaise, ham slice, a cheese slice and water from the fridge. If you do not have a cheese slice, a processed cheese product such as Kraft

I think you missed the point of this thread somewhat Andrew, that sounds good to eat.

We were talking about disgusting things, like Haggis, black pudding, craw fish brains, and other lovely things ! ;)

Haggis for all.... Mwa ha ha ha....

And Cullen Skink. Which is very nice.

I think this thread would be good if it branched out into regional behaviour as well. Like games and dialects only found in certain places.

hehe in my part of region back in Bergen, theres a small place called VOSS,and the dialect is hard to understand and they eat sheep heads splitted int to 2 hemispheres (actually one of the best RUSH albums) witch they cook first then tourch it with a tourch flame like in flambering it.All parts of the head are eaten and it`s said that the eyes are a delicatesse !! :-X

Well I hasn`t tried it but think as it lying there and look at u as u are about to eat it`s eye and brain....lol

Hehe, I happen to live in Bergen...

They only eat those lamb heads in Voss(a very small town in the outskirts of Bergen, about one and a half to two hours worth of car driving from the city of Bergen).

Here, we eat all those fish dishes you hate :P

"lutefisk", for instance... It tastes so perfect, yet it tastes nearly nothing. It's almost transparent, and is acting like jelly :D

Mmm!

One thing though, do not drink lemonade while eating it. The lemonade will taste quite bad.

About our dialect...

I speak very similar to the people in voss, and thus I have no problem understanding them at all. Few Norwegians actually does, because we talk in a very simple manner, and more "edgy" than they do elsewhere.

(Bergen is actually the only place, I think, in Norway where we only have two different articles for nouns... Male and neutral ;D)

It's very easy to learn, and I recommend it to you!

I hate Lutefisk > its cob put in a caustic soda marinade :O

About my Bergen Dialect its so recognicable that anywere I travel in Norway I just have to say one word and they laugh and place me on the map imidiatly.. 8)

As we say in Bergen : We`re not from Norway But from Bergen ::)

Sounds great ! (lifts toilet seat and gets ready to puke) ugh!

That sounds disgusting, you from down south ?

In England it's the other way around, up north we eat weird things, down south well ?

This thread is getting to be fun ! lol

Anyone else got better food specialities ? :-[

Yep, Mississippi, born and raised.

Although I've never actually eaten either crawfish or chitlins. I've eaten quite a few gizzards though...mmmm...boiled then deep fried. Ketchup. Tater logs on the side.

Good eating!

Anyway, as most of you know, Southern dialect is somewhat different from our northern kin. I was talking to someone from Chicago the other day, and the way she says "school" is "scho-al" (Like fool, or drool...Interesting comparison ;) ), the way I say "school", however, is closer to the way it's spelled, like due, or poo.

Re Mahdi's post. Oh my god, I'm glad I don't live at your house. lol

Hey Lord_Johnsonius,

I would love to try real southern fried chicken, how do you make it ?

I heard once that you have to soak the chicken drumsticks in milk, over night.

I s that right or how does your mom cook it. :P
