What would people be interested in doing for another Dunesday?

Mahdi can arrange for lots of interview on people who have worked on Dune related stuff but what else could we do?

Maybe release some of the Emperor Mods in development, screenshots or something from Sardaukar2k and the finals of the Emperor Tournaments?

Any ideas?

Aye, it does.

It's pretty easy to work though.

Basically we get enough players together, Get a random non-playing comp to host the Lobby, then give that comp all the IPs of the players, and hey presto! A temporary WOL for one day of 8 player games. :)

I can try to make some art,

TMA can maybe make better art...and orlook can make the best art.

And of course fan fiction is alwas willing to do something for dune day.

Yes I was hoping we could coordinate massive online games for emperor and dune 2000 during the same time of Dunesday (it's all about anything Dune), like getting everyone to play, and the person with most legit wins, wins. Just an idea.

Hmm guys, I dont like the idea of turning this idea of dunesay into a Dune gaming thing. If you are into that then stick to the emperor forum. This has to do with real Dune oriented stuff, at least in how I think. Sure it would be awesome to plan a tournament or something like that, but I think dunesday should be a bit more focused on trivia, fun fanficition, art contests, special guests, Prizes, and a good chat concerning various Dune topics. I talked about this stuff with you andrew, wouldnt you agree with me on this too? if not it is fine, I just personally think this should be more oriented on Dune and not westwoodized ideas of the duniverse.

Yes I agree want it to be about the "real" Dune stuff, but the emperor people might as well have their own thing going on at the same time so we can reach as many people as possible. Which is why the Duniverse people will stick with doing the Dune stuff, and the emperor players can do their thing on their own.

(But mostly for Duniverse.)

If I wer you guys, I wouldn't go excluding stuff jsut because they havce to do witht he games. If you can get people who want to organize game based stuff to happen with it, I'd let them.

maybe it could be on the same date as when they begin to sell Machine Crusade :)

That is a good idea, but it is too close. September 3? Not enough time to do anything in that timeframe.(IMO)

eek sorry mahdi and andrew, I didnt mean it like that. I said it would be awesome to have some tournaments for dune games, I just said it shouldnt be overstated for that. see what I mean? Also, where is the major organization coming for this? who are the people who are working on this? It seems to have become hazy after all this stuff.

Yeah I could do with a good 8 player game of Emperor Xtreme (bwahahahahahah). :D

Seriously though I think that mod tournaments are not such a good idea, firstly because there aren't that many mods you could really do it with (ITDG, KH, Shadow of Arrakis being the prominent among them) and it would be a pain to get some of the less-mod knowlegable players to install them all.

As for IPs then yes, you'll have to give yours top whoever is running the fake lobby (Gob would be the obvious candidate as he has all our IPs already, unless they shift about).

We could have art and fic competitions as well. Prizes would be custom titles and the such, I suppose.

where would we get prizes?

As for Emperor pizes, I have no idea. Thats more of an emperor board jurisdiction I beleive.

As for non emperor I think Art can be turned into avatars, maybe custom title and other stuff. Nothing is finalized yet.

If you guys manage to pull off this:

DunesDay Recap | Mahdi @ 08:33 PDT | Comments...

After over a month of organization, days of preparation, and countless e-mails, DunesDay has come and gone. During this day FED2K had the most users online simultaneously since at least the day we got our latest forum, and we got approximately 2000 hits, which is about what we got while E:BFD was still being updated.

I want to thank Pellias, Deidril, and Florent from Dune Generations for agreeing to contribute to our live chat and our short Q&A, Kevin J. Anderson for answering our questions and giving us new info and excerpts from THE BUTLERIAN JIHAD, Lord Ophidiom and Morden for allowing us to use their irc channel (server is irc.gamesnet.com, channel #Dune_Universe), Orlok for all his artwork and the DunesDay banner along with the info on David Lynch's Dune, Edric_O's and Ghostysquares valiant effort to get their expansion pack for E:BFD up in time for DunesDay after getting hit by a virus, Edric_O for also supplying us with his winamp skin, Koen for his Emperor Editor, Gobalopper for putting all that stuff online, Shaddam for co-moderating the chat with me, Gamespy, Barrysworld, and all the other websites that advertised either DunesDay or the live chat part of DunesDay, and finally all of you who showed up. It's been fun.

Since there were 15 news articles posted during the day I figured we needed a quick recap of all that went on.

-A new Q&A with Florent Claudy from Dune Generatons was posted here.

-A live chat was held with Pellias, Deidril, and Florent from Dune Generations, and the log can be seen here.

-Koen released the latest E:BFD editor.

-The first E:BFD winamp skin was released, and is available here.

-The announcement that the Dune Miniseries will air for the first time in Africa on February 8th.

-Titus Mandahl's article Richesian Model 89 Las-gun, which is about lasguns, was released.

-A new director, Greg Yaitanes, may have replaced John Harrison at the helm of Children Of Dune.

-Alphabeta's Super Dune III mod was released.

-The release of new artwork by Orlok, who is also working on the new DVD of David Lynch's Dune. click here to view it.

-FED2K's interview with Kevin J. Anderson was released and contains brand new info regarding the next Dune trilogy "Legends of Dune" and an exclusive excerpt from the first novel in it THE BUTLERIAN JIHAD. French versions will soon be available here, and a German translation here.

-Altea'Deo has opened his new French dune site.

-Abulurd sent in an early version of the engine he will be using in his Endless Dune project. Click here to download it.

I'm in.

Ok so who wants to help me organise this?

I want:

  • loads of people playing E:BFD/Dune 2000 on the internet
  • More fan maps for both games
  • Some exciting news about Sardaukar 2000
  • More fan art
  • Interviews with people that Mahdi mentioned
  • Everyone on the Fed2k Chat with a thread in the General Board (stickied) telling people how to get on to it.

Any other suggestions?
