I just played emperor, and I killed the emperor worm. i was declared the new emperor.... what i want to know is... WHAT THE HELL? I only killed house ordos. The Harkonnen were still a strong house at the time... I thought the aim was to kill both houses?

What Gob means to say (but is too polite) is,

Emperor is half-baked.

Not only do you not get to kill both Houses, you don't even get a speech from your new Emperor to his House.

You may also have noticed that there is very, very little FMV in the entire Emperor campaign (and what little FMV there is is pretty much exactly the same for all 3 Houses), and if you try to take every territory on the map you will be spending most of your time DEFENDING THE EXACT SAME TERRITORIES THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY CAPTURED... over, and over and overrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr again a few million times.

I found my money was well spent...

You only have to kill one, because by killing one, you control 2/3 of arrakis, have defeated the Guild, so are in control of transport, and you have only one enemy left, which would be an anticlimax to kill.

Better yet, you should have to finish off the other house WITH the emperor worm running around during the battle.  That would make things interesting for you and the computer and offer some variety in the game.

I think a suitable (But not practical) ending would be for the house you play to take over, not destroy, the other two, then use the combined might of three houses and thre three sub-houses to defeat the emperor worm AWAKE :O. Now there's a prospect....

Hmm, I like it this way. It's more logical for the story. Cause the Guild waits untill your main force is away. On another planet, where they can lock you. And it was already declared that an awaken Emperor Worm couldn't be destroyed. And it would be strange if you needed to destroy the Emperor Worm then...

I liked the ending. I just thought perhaps defeating something that could fight back would be interesting. And of course there is the idea of going and destroying the homeworld of the Tleiaxu in mad revenge afterwards (I don't think the guild has one, do they?), a sort of epilogue, or a reward if you were constantly efficiant... But yes, the ending as it was fitted very well with the rest of it.

I like the ending the way it is. I love a good surprise, and fighting the last battle against 2 subhouses and their worm-from-hell was one of the biggest surprises I ever got in a computer game!

As for going against the Emp Worm awake... let's see:

1. It would have telekinetic abilities (tossing your units around like rag dolls just by thinking)

2. Insanely powerful mind control - Yuri, you will bow to me!! :)

3. Best of all, it can see the future!

Good luck fighting that...

Yeah, Ordos rule.

And yes, fighting an awake worm would be difficult, yea, near impossible, but that's the challenge isn't it? In any case, it could need to rest every so often, or be vunerable to other worms (Fedykin attack). A weakness that you must work out yourself. The key, I think, would be in camoflage, i.e. Fremen, infiltrators, etc. And also the possibility of projector tanks distracting it while you moved in from behind. Or from all sides, knowing the future won't help when there's no way to escape.
