I'm moving into the city (Ottawa) with two of my friends by the end of the month. Cool, eh? Didn't think so. Anyway, when I do move, I don't know if I'll have the internet for a while, so if I disappear for a bit, you'll know where I am. Either that, or I died a horrible blood-gurgling death at the side of the road somewhere on the way. Either way - booyah!

Anyway, I'll post a formal "going away" post in the appropriate thread before I actually move. Right now, I'm just letting everyone know, for some reason. So, any thoughts? ;)

Are you going to university or college? Or work?

I'm moving in September back to where I was last winter, will have more info by then.

Moving isn't much fun, but once moved it is fun. :)

okay, so I just saw my new apt for the first time yesterday. It's amazing! It's pretty big, and it's fully equipped (fridge, stove, washer/dryer, etc). And my soon-to-be-roomies and I went to Ikea to get some very unb

On the subject of internet... ive got DSL! Wow it's good!

And on the smaller matter of you moving... 700 is a lot for only a share of 2 months, must be grande :)

I think I am paying around $300 (remember Canadian Dollar) a month just for the apartment I beleive, then about another $100 for: food, tv/phone/high speed internet/ washer dryer/ electricity/ umm, more stuff I'm sure.

Are you in a "townhouse" Van? 2 story 3 bedroom 1 kitchen 1 livingroom 2 bathrooms? Thats what i am in this year. Last year it was a 1 story 2 bedroom 1 bathroom, small kitchen, and living room.

Living on your own is fun! Except cleaning.

Vangaurd, I'll be living in Vanier starting september. We should e-mail our contact info closer to the fall and meet up some time.

Btw, $700 for two months rent?! God, thats cheap. Either you are living pretty damn far from downtown, or you're living with 15 other people....

Still, my share of my apartment is $450, everything included and fully furnished. Thats a damn good deal. So, he's either sharing with fourteen people, or living pretty far out of the city. Or he's somehow got a sweet-assed deal.

Inoc: Keep in mind that we're talking Canadian dollars here. I guess it would be about $260 USD. Also, note that living in Ottawa is generally pretty pricey (or so I hear), let alone an apartment with very decently sized rooms, as well as "extra" appliances like a dishwasher and washer/dryer. And for the place we're getting, it's quite a steal.

Andrew: No, I'm in an apartment of a condo. It's two bedrooms, but we have three people. Two of us will take the master bedroom (although I'd be content in the closet, which is quite large, while the third stays in the other bedroom.

And as wierd as it may sound, I find vacuuming (my main chore) somewhat enjoyable. At least, compared to a lot of other types of cleaning. ;)

Ordos: I'm not going to be in there until the 28th or so. But I was still caught in it at home. And I wouldn't exactly just call it the "Ottawa" blackout. ;)

Mahdi: Vanier??? I didn't realize you were royalty! ;) $450 for a place in Vanier is quite the deal, too. How many people are you living with? And I think my place is pretty close to a lot of stuff. My friend says it's a 10-minute bus ride to Carleton U, and 20 mins to Algonquin.

And part of the deal we got may be due to the fact that there's this massive patch of bird crap on our deck. It'll be messy, but it shouldn't take long to clean up.

And yeah, we should meet. It would be interesting to meet the man under the toque. ;)

Carleton U is about 40 minutes away from downtown, but you guys do have your own little scene up there. Vanier royalty? There's a reason they're called the slums of Ottawa, you know....

I'm sharing my place with one other guy, but he's gone after a few months then I get a new roomate.

3 people in a two bedroom apartment? Now I understand how you got it so cheap.

I get my place sept. 1 officially. Most of my friends are frosh guides, so I'll probably be free first week there, but not sure. We'll work it out later on.

Odd I enjoy vacuuming also. Did it once a week myself last winter as our apt. got dirty easily.

I'm living in a 3 bedroom apt with 2 girls. 8) (hope I don't get more feminish)
