Motion scanner works like an impulse radar, so it changes in short period. Worse is that it detects only moving targets, so snipers and patient jumping aliens have a big advantage. To be sure, with slower connection it is useless, as well as in SP, where are many distracting bugs and other moving things like falling truck...

did the Marine and Predator Campaigns, and my conclusion is now that the single player portion of this game sucks

the stories made no sense at all. you can't complete half the objectives. you have to move on to the next missions with uncompleted objectives, and the game never tells you which ones are impossible to complete. that is *extremely* poor design. (ex: on the Marine Prison Level, you can *NOT* "locate your team" even tho that is the primary goal). almost every level has impossible-to-complete goals like this.

the endings sucked. the Alien planet blows up with the Marine, and that's it. what a pathetic ending. but not as pathetic as the Predator ending, which doesn't even show you as you kill Rykov. instead, the camera cuts away. why didn't it show you cut off his head and hold it up to the camera as a Trophy? that was *totally* called for, but the developer copped-out

the stories are sloppy and incongruent. in the Predator Mission "Unexpected Allys", not once did anyone else help me do anything!

it is also very annoying how the Predator's vision gets staticky when he is cloaked. why couldn't they just put an icon in the corner or something? there was no need for the designers to hurt your eyes constantly with ugly static. :(

i hear in multiplayer that the Predator has to switch been 3 different vision modes to see each type of enemy (Predator, Alien, Marine)

is that true?

if so, wouldn't Predator be the worst race to take in MP since the Alien would require less micro by default and hence can see enemies and avoid or kill them faster? that sounds *really* unbalanced to me

does the PredAlien have the same vision capabilities of the Alien? if so, why would anyone be dumb enough to take the Predator in MP when it is so inferior?

I just got the SP demo of this game (one level for each race). It's pretty good, but I do have a few complaints.

-PredTech view sucks. It doesn't highlight Predator stuff at all. If my disk is jammed in a rock face, for example, I'm not going to see it because it's white-purple on white-purple. Also, I don't get why enemies are invisible in this view.

-I'm a bit disappointed that the Alien no longer has the fishbowl lens view. I guess it made too many people sick in AvP1. :/

Other than that, the game looks pretty darn good. I'd get a copy, if I could only find one.

Um Vanguard the alien does have the differnt view. Just push "V" to change.......

My friend came over with a copy and we played it almost all day. I got one mission away from beating the Alien campaign, really far with the predator and well only to like the second mission with the marine because it just freaked me out a bit too much. Walking alone down dark busted up coridors......not good. Kept thinking , "im a marine im a marine im a marine im tough i have a huge ass assault rifle im better than them" it dident work well lol

Felt as a alien or pred could jump out at me at any time. But being the pred was easy cause I knew I was the bad ass dude that could take everybody else. ;D Felt goooooood 8)

I don't mean the hunt/navigate modes. In AvP1, both modes had a wierd fighbowl lens, extending the Alien's peripheral vision. In effect, the Alien could see out the sides of its head. Whereas in AvP2 (or at least, the demo) you don't get this effect.

And this "Leeth4x0r" isn't the only one. People kick you from servers, if you are too good, you use the shoulder cannon or pistol, or you use motion capturing weapons.

As example, I was figthing alone against 6 aliens (I was predator.) First, the aliens slaughtered me at will, but then I learned the right tactic. Because they usually attacked in groups, I first used the shoulder cannon. When I was out of energy, or they got too close, I slashed them with combstick. First, they said that I may not use "freaking plasma". Well, I had to use only the combstick. I was still on lead, and without saying anything they kicked me. Hmph.

so far, every time i reset my computer, all the save games and key re-mappings of this game disappear into nothingness

maybe i have a defective copy, but this *REALLY* sucks. now i have to exchange it.

@vanguard the PredTech mode is the best vision mode in the game because it lets you see better than any other vision when navigating around objects and it doesn't run out of battery juice

i never played MP but i'm guessing that Predators would own. their auto-aiming is so freakin' powerful in SP and i'm guessing it's just as good in MP

btw, how come there are some guys who the Predator can never auto-target? they are like cyborgs or something. when you hurt them, they say "Damaged!" and "Danger!". i have not been able to auto-target them in any vision mode. what's up with that? and are those guys selectable in MP? because if so, they'd own!

Yes, the cyborgs are selectable in multiplayer, but they are just like humans.

Actually, they're Synthetics (A.K.A. "fakemen"; "artificial humans"). In effect, they're biological androids. In the Aliens universe, it is illegal to give them guns, but hey, who follows laws anyway?

Personally, I would think they would show up on all three vision modes. You'd think they'd give off at least small amounts of heat; they would give off some electromagnetic field (as would humans, for that matter); and they're technology. Oh well, I guess it's a balancing thing.

Oh, and Nav, I think you have to save your control presets. You can't just select them and play the game. I might be wrong about that, but I seem to recall having to do that.

AvP is about 100 years after Aliens movie. Synths used there are special war machines, nothing else. As Predator there is only one functional tactics: normal vision and speargun, directly to their head.

I have used netgun, people don't say anything about it or mines, but when I use as example plasma caster or pistol, usually people starts to whine about it.

People says that Predator is too powerfull, but I disagree with it. Predator is easy to learn, but hard to become a master. And if you are even a bit experienced player, you can spot predator easily [and dodge discs ;D].

Then there's also the fact that I love the feeling you get from playing with the Alien. There's nothing like hanging from the ceiling and falling on the puny human that walks beneath... :)

Vanguard I almost completed the alien campaign , was one mission away from completion. You cant feed off normal things. You have to go to the animal storage room. There are animal cages behind a chain link fence. Jump up to the ledge and find a hole in the fence. Go through and you will see a cutscene of you having some lunch considering your a growing lil alien and you have to have your "veggies ;)"

And then congradulations you are now a drone aka a normal alien.
