At an airshow in Ramstein AirBase, two collided and both died. So, to remember the event they added an m and were called, Rammstein.

I remember that someboday said me that Rammstein was a airbase or military base (maybe a city) that get bombed by the allies in the WW2. Anyway, maybe I or you are wrong, or both.

I read an interview of Rammstein, and they explained that it was the airbase...

Yes Sardaukar, it's called Ramstein :) You can go to it today if you wanted to.

Lyrics to Du Hast:

You

you have *

you have me

you have asked me

you have asked me and I have said nothing

Do you want, until death seperates you,

to be faithful to her for all days

No

Do you want, until death, which would seperate, **

to love her, even in bad days

No

* When Till is just saying "Du hast," it sounds as if he could either be saying "Du hast" (you have) or "Du hasst" (you hate). This is probably to give the song a double meaning, even though the official lyrics say "Du hast."

** There is another sort of double meaning here. If the line is read as "Tod der Scheide" it would be "until the death of the v****a" and not "until death, which would seperate" ("Tod, der scheide"). The whole song is a play on German wedding vows (Wollen Sie einander lieben und achten und die Treue halten bis dass der Tod euch scheidet? - Do you want to love and respect each other and to remain faithful, until death seperates you?). Instead of answering with "Ja," Till says "Nein," finally answering the question he said nothing to in the beginning.

***TRANSLATION****

YET there is a pain of an english version

You

You hate

You hate me

You hate me to say

You hate me to say

And I did not obey

Will you until death does sever

Be upright to her forever

Never

Will you 'til death be her rider

Her lover too, to stay inside her

Never

I like the Starcraft remix of Du Hast that is floating around the net. I used to like the German heavy metal band Accept, and Scorpions before they went pop. I would like to here more Rammstein music. Is there music available on CD's here in the US?

Indeed there are number6, there is... Herzeleid (have it, great one); Live from Aus Berlin (don't have it); Seinsucht (have it, pretty good); Mutter (don't have it...yet). There're probably more, but those are the ones I feel are the most popular.

yes, if not, it can be imported

No I think they sing you hate in the english version of du hast. even though I know that du hast means you have. I have learned german for four years, and I would know.

Rammstein only has three albums: Sehnsucht, Herzeleid and Mutter. and there are other songs not in those albums: Feuerr

Maybe that, but it doesn't make sense with the rest of the line.

Mutter and Live aus Berlin are my fav albums by Rammstein. Herlezeid is a fricken awsome song!!

Their lyrics are just senseless and... erm plain stupid (imho)

Instrumental Rammstein would be the perfect match, so they do unquestionably great music

Erm....maybe there just stupid cause you dont know what they are saying. Actually look at the true translation and then say there lyrics are stupid. There message is heavy. A smart person knows what they are talking about. Rammstein rocks no doubt about it!

well, holding in mind that Hawat is german he might just know what they say. I searched the web for info on them and atleast they claim not to write political lyrics, maybe it's you who put too much in it, this is just a thought.

That comment was not meant to offend any Rammstein fan.

But any native German can confirm that the lyrics don't make much sense. Perhaps it's charming in its own way... I don't like it that much, what i clearly expressed with writing IMHO. I never made a dogmatic statement out of that sentence. So don' start flaming just because someone has another *opinion*.

Have you heard American (and Europop, while I'm at it) lyrics? They don't make much sense either. The most popular song in the US ever screams "a mulato, and albino, a misqito, my libido" which is simply nosensical. ??? It doesn't help that most of today's so called "musicians" are a bunch of uneducated brats either too young to have completed high school or more intrested in selling crack to have something to rap about. (Need I point out that these "musicians" have niether musical skills nor backgrounds?)

These things are open to interpretation though, and can have meaning beyond thier bad grammer. Even my precious Einst

How are we supposed to know that he is truly German. Its quite easy to make it look that way. I could put up the somolian flag and put a pin over mogadishu and say "Hey all im somolian!"

Sure it might not be said in proper German, I know that considering I speak German aswell. But its not hard to understand the point they are trying to get across. There songs mean something, singing about something. Its not like there saying, "And the purple monkeys have a dandy day and drink beer..."

And NaMp, did i say that they sang about political topics.......? thats what I thought ;)

You don't really want me to proove that im german, right ? Tell me, Sardaukar, would there be any sense in claiming another nationality ? Perhaps i just did it, so that i can "diss" Rammstein...

Even if i write here "Hallo ich bin Deutscher und verstehe nur zu genau was Rammstein eigentlich singt und

hmmm... i undestand it all except "nervt" and "inwzischen"

and why would someone lie about their nationality? And is it so wrong for someone not to like lyrics?

Not saying its wrong, just asking what is truly wrong with them. Whatever it was a stupid arguement to get into in the first place.

Listen Hawat ive got nothing againts you. You just have you own opinion,Thats cool. Lets just forget it happened. :)

Who knows why somebody would lie, just for the fun of it I suppose.

You know how Rammstein never gives their meanings for songs? This is so that each and everybody else can make up a meaning for themselves. I heard this in an interview with them (on herzeleid.com I believe).
