1)I think emperor need hero units for each side like in Ra2:Yr. What do you think? If somone likes the idea they could make a mod with hero units.

2)There should also be the guard/follow command so you can send your deva protected by 2 buzzes to enemy base and kick some butt!

Emperor does have a hero system except it's not done well. Level 3 units are really really strong. The problem is it's too hard to get level 3 because the experience doesn't concentrate itself on one unit at a time. So the experience just spreads over your whole army and hence loses all meaning.

If they fixed the experience gaining system to focus on one unit at a time, Emperor would be a lot better tho.

you're right about the ability to escort a unit. that shoulda been there too

The ability to download maps of the host of a room. Mods too for that matter. That is a very nice addition to Starwars Galactic Battle Grounds. you could get maps and mods of the host before the game started. If EA were to show any support toward EmpBFD a patch to do this would be wonderful, at least for the maps, get all the map-packs and great fan made maps out there. ;)

I know it is really nothing important, but I have only two (stupid) complaints.

1: Units voices. Okay each unit has it's own voice, right? But since when are you ever going to move just ONE unit at a time (the exception being Scouts of course). When grouped the units go into a kind of generic "House Voice" even if the group isn't a mixed one, you get this voice. Now then, imagine if you will a group of Laser Tanks zigzagging form hot spot to hot spot, shooting down Minos with abandon... You're going to get really sick of some zombie-ish group of voices yelling, "Complying..!" At you over and over again, right?

2: Unit diversity, and unit replayablity. Okay, okay, now I know this is probably nothing but a petty complaint. But I think there needs to be more in the way of diversity in sub house units, and in certain cases house units. I mean would it kill anybody to have upgrades for your House units? I mean a little finite number of upgrade packages would be nice. And you could buy more; but they take on ridiculous price hikes each time you call for one. I mean a little speed here, a little armor there, plus a little firepower here. Perhaps Subhouse exclusive upgrades for your units as well? I mean think about it, a Mino Capable of folding space would be awesome; might actually make the Guild a USEFUL Subhouse to have. Sometimes I find myself getting bored using the same old inflexible arsenal and... I turn to StarCraft... Don't look at me!

the unit voice thing is a great point. i've asked someone to Mod that for me for online WOL play several times, but no one has bothered to do it ::)

Minos folding space? lol - hah hah that would make any elite Atreides player literally unstoppable hence I am all for it ( ;D) but it would throw the game ludicrously out of whack in terms of balance. Guild is already the second-best sub-House ( behind Fremen, of couse), play Emp more and you will realize that. The only thing that sucks about Guild is that the Palace takes up wayyyyyyyy too much freakin' space and on some maps even when there *should* be space to put it down you *can't* put it down because one or two squares is red for no reason even tho it shouldn't be (and no, there are no scout or Fremen etc. hiding there...). The Guild Palace should take up 2/3 less space then it does now, then Guild would be just fine as is.

Can't be done. We could add more diversity to the group voices, but if you mean make it like RA2, that can't be done.

You mean you want to be able to download maps/mods of a host of a room when you're about to play a game with them online? Emperor maps are about 1.8-5MB each. Not everyone has ADSL or cable... You could be sitting there all day waiting for the map to transfer. :P

never played RA2 so i don't know what you're referring to. what *i* am referring to is, have the unit voices in Emperor rotate amongst all the voice acting lines available within a selected group. maybe with every click it could randomly pick one of the voice lines to say out of the available voice-acting files. surely this is a very simple Mod to make, so why can't it be done?

What do you mean by "out of all the available voice-acting files"? Are you saying that if you clicked on say, an Atreides Minotaurus, you would want the unit to respond with a voice randomly chosen from all the Atreides vehicles voices? Or every single vehicle in the game? ???

let's say I have a group of 10 Minos and nothing else in the group.

With every click, I want the Minos to say a different one of the recorded Mino voice-acting lines.

Now, say I have a group made up of 10 Minos, 12 Fedaykin, and 6 Warriors. With every click of that group, I want the voice response that is played-back to be chosen randomly from all the recorded voice-acting lines for the Mino, Fedaykin, and Warrior units.

see what i mean? that's gotta be easy to do for someone who knows how to Mod Emperor...

He means,if you have 2 minos,2feds,and2 warriors and he selects them all,than he wants 1 different random response from each of the.

Such as,Mino"Ready,sir!"(Or whatever it says)and the Fed,"Yes?"(Or whatever the Fed says)and the Warrior,"We fight for our people!"(Or something like that)

Got it?

and if that is too hard to do then i'd accept just *one* voice line from any unit of the group

ie: if you have 10 Minos selected and click somewhere with them, you get the same voice-line played back simultaneously 10x

i'd accept having only one voice played back with this Mod. it'd still be better than hearing the same thing over and over again

Well each unit has it's own unit responses linked up to a reference file that the game uses. So it would be possible to make a Buzzsaw 'talk' like a Minotaurus, or a Chemical Trooper 'talk' like a Guild Maker, however when it comes to groups, the game does not distinguish or discriminate what kinds of units are in the group. Each group has it's own set of response sounds (i.e. all Fremen, all Guild, all Atreides, etc etc). Some groups have more 'priority' than others, as far as I know. For example, if you have Atreides units and Guild units in a group, the Atreides sounds will always play, and never the Guild sounds when you select the mixed group of units (I'm taking this from memory :P). I'm not sure how the game prioritizes what sounds to play (like if you have both Atreides and Harkonnen units in a group, which sound would be played?), however I do know that you can't make the game play a random sound from each 'unit' that is in a 'group', since the two have their own separate response links, and once a 'group' is selected, a 'group' response will be played, regardless of what units are in the group. It would be possible to change what responses a group of units gives, however you wouldn't be able to make the game know the difference between a group of Atreides units and Guild units, and a group of Atreides units and Fremen units. Same thing goes with a group of Atreides Sandbikes and Atreides Mongoose units. It will still result in the same Atreides 'group' response.
