Gobalopper
Pine forests may pollute more than traffic, industryConiferous forests around the world may be emitting more smog-causing nitrogen oxides than traffic and industry combined, suggests a report in the prestigious journal Nature.:D
IxianMace
Funny, but if those trees were around for a lot longer than the traffic and industry, and the ecosystem was fine back then, I don't think it's the trees we should be focusing on to reduce pollution. Vanguard3000
IxianMace: They're not "blaming" the trees, they're just posting the fact that trees do create NO and similar chemicals.
IxianMace
Well they say they are producing similar chemicals, so I guess they are implying that trees are a source of pollution, and therefore should be got rid off. Ok, so they may not be blaming them, but that's the impression that I got. ::)
slaphapy
this may be a little off topic but, i heard about a genus of tree that only has one species in the genus left... it's called the ginkgo biloba tree (i think) and it actually takes in more polution (and changes it into O2) then any other type of tree... the only reason the one species of it is left is that the uhhh japanese i think kept it in their gardens... making the species live longerthis is the tree that they use some chemical or something that is in the leaves to make pills for memory i may be wrong though... TMA_1
yeah, ginko is looked upon as a kind of panacea by many asian countries. I think what it is getting at, is that the balance of wildlife has been thrown off. Originally all the plants worked off eachother in a lightly stable alliance. It worked as long as nothing messed with the eco system. Well we did. oops.lol
