QOTSA are actually from the US but they were over here a lot last year :)

I don't know why I thought it was spam.. cos it was random chat maybe.. and I see people get accused of it a lot when to me it seems like they are random chatting....

QOTSA?! What kind of music do they play? I want a description, because I have never heard of them before. I'm sure I would have remembered such a ridiculous name!

Actually, I've heard a more ridiculous (but slightly cool) band name: Sly and the Family Stone ('ve never listened to them; apparently they were semi-famous). Anyway, this post is getting longer than originally intended; I just thought Queen of the Stone Age was something I should know about.

queens of the stone age (or qotsa) are "Stoner Rock" or "Desert Rock".. they are like .... too many things to describe.

www.qotsa.com

there are a couple of snippets on the main page that automatically play.

those are the singles off the latest album (songs for the deaf)

personally i like the middle album best.. (rated r)

im still trying to find the words.. they are like pure rock, but modern rock. really inticate basslines in places, with some screaming (when Nick takes the mike) and some more mellow moments. Josh Homme (guitar) plays like.... oh man.. this is hard! I cant think of anyone who sounds like them at all!

They started out as a band called Kyuss who were brilliant.. sort of crazy-chilled stoner rock.. you can just kick back and listen.. great stuff. Then they split up and Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri (bass) started QOTSA. Nick also has another project called Mondo Generator. They are more angry shouty rock.

I dunno... you guys should download some songs and see what you think...

Recommended downloads: First It Giveth (from Songs for the Deaf), Feel Good Hit Of The Summer ( from Rated R), The Lost Art Of Keeping a Secert (from Rated R), Auto Pilot and The Quick and To The Pointless (both from Rated R)

Feel Good Hit and Lost Art were big singles for them.. you may recognise them when you hear them.

No One Knows (from SFTD) was their most recent single and a huge hit so you may know that when you hear it too.. just from general radio and tv airplay.
