No dictatorship? Anyone agrees?

Yes, infact we do. For now, everyone here should know that today, Saturday, there were demonstrators all around the globe, protesting against "USA's war", like the newspaper said. 5000-6000 people marched in the city of Goeteborg, shouting words like: "Drop Bush - not bombs, no war in Iraq, and no dictatorship in Iraq". Wow. No surprise the majority of them actually are leftists. So, the big question: How are we going to remove the dictatorship in Iraq? Any good suggestions?

my suggestion: to dethrown saddam is to invade it and sieze control of the country. or we could not invade it let him build up forces na dinvade kuwait again.(history repeats itself)

Don't remove him. It would set a dangerous precendent for the US to interfere with the business of any country it sees fit.

Support opposition groups instead.

Bah, not if he has WoMD's to counter with. Besides, what can we do to support opposition groups? Send them money? Ammo? What's the adress, I'd like to help? And how long will it take? A year? 10 years? 30 or more? the people will fear Saddam as long as there is support for him, as long as his military follows him. Yes, people will die in an invasion, but freedom will be achieved before the end of this year. And you think the US wants to control Iraq? There are warlords running loose in Afghanistan, how exactly is that country controlled by the US?

Did you know...

That the largest peace rally int he United States sicne the Vietnam War was held in Washington last week, and the Media did not report it? And that it is merely one of hundreds of similar events taking place across that country? In fact, I beleive next week another peace rally is supposed to be held in Washington which will be the biggest peace rally in American history, but again the media makes no mention of it.

(Yes, I have had issues with the news media since Walkerton, I admit my bias against them)

The more you know.

Way to go, Mahdi, now the FBI agents monitoring this will have to report you for telling people what they don't need to know.

It's good to be Canadian:)

And then the US will invade you, because... err... you're building nukes! We KNOW you are! Yes, so what if there isn't any proof? We *KNOW* it!

Canada is a very stable country. it wouldnt matter much if we were building nukes. there are nukes south of canada(and probably in alaska) and plus canada couldnt afford nukes because they cant afford any other military equipment.(them sea king copters as an example, and WWII subs bought from britain)

Of nukes and subs...

You know, whenever a new PM is elected, he has to handwrite instructions known only to him to the captains of the four trident nuclear missile submarines, telling what to do if Britian is destroyed. I'd love to tell them to put themselves under the command of the Vatican. The looks on peoples faces when the smallest landlocked country in the world suddenly has the most powerful naval weapons in the world...

I'm no fan of Sadam Hussein, but I'm not a fan of Bush either. Bush has a hidden agenda on this.

First Bush yells at everyone Sadam is helping Bin Laden, and the day after (yes, a day after) it turns out there is no proof of that he comes up with a report that Iraq is building nukes- a report wich is 100 % hot air. I made a thread about this some time ago.

I think the United Nations should take a more active policy concerning dictatures like Iraq. The US shouldn't, period.

An idiot with power is worse then a dictator with none. Hussein is getting pretty old and I think we all know that he isn't going to do anything stupid with everyone breathing down his neck, so lets just let him die in a few years. Invading Iraq now would do more damage then leaving it alone.

Well there were those empty warheads meant for launching chemical weapons found the other day in Iraq, which means some idiot forgot about them and didn't disassemble them. Bush wants this war, the illusion of the people holding the power in a democracy is just that, an illusion.

(Aren't I Mr Happy?) Bush will have his war, the US will flex its military muscles. No one can stop him. And for those of you nuts who think a bullet to the head would stop him, Cheney would use it as a sign that Iraq knew the US was too close and needed to kill our "glorious leader who's wisdom would have led us into a righteous war against the evil dictatorship of Saddam Hussein" or something to that effect, and the US would still attack Iraq.

Now let's see, is it really up to five people I know in countries bordering Iraq now? Bush is a war happy Republican, what else can I expect from him but a war?

the US and Europe has done this dozens of times before, supporting opposition groups. The tactic doesn't work. If you wanna get rid of saddam, do it with an all scale war... or do nothing... not sissy ass backdoor politics. Just do it fast, move in with the army, remove saddam from power and put some good guys on top... case closed, no one will whine. if you do cowardly things by sneaky supporting saddam's opposition, just like they did with the Taliban vs. Russia, then i call that very weak. And it will only make me, and many more people angry.
