hi. can you guys help me build a site like this one, atom craft, eglador and such as.. how do i make a site use YaBB SE? how do i even start a site from nothing? plz let me know.

Please, use phpbb forum instead of yabbSE(it's much cooler).

What is important is to not totally rely on the forum in the beginning.

Your site is likely to get few members and don't become popular if you don't got some site content(like I.E Dune articles, reviews and more).

It is also importnat that you update your site regularily.

Warning:

* Don't think you will get too many members from fed2k.

* Prepare for much work... It's not easy to start a site, but it get's easier by the time.

For the site:

* Do you know the HTML Scripting language?

* If you know php too, you could make really cool stuff! (the forums yabbSE and phpbb are php stuff)

You don't have to know html at all to make a site. Just use dreamveawer.

* Do you have ftp space?

* Do you plan on getting a domain for yourself (I.E Yoursite.com)?

Well, several people here could help you.

Frodo is good at this. And Gob, well you can see he's quite good by the looks of this site.

You can get some free ftp space several places. Try to find some free ftp space that supports mysql and php.

Then buy or find any other way to get dreamveawer and start making pages. Then goto www.phpbb.com and download the forum you're going to install. Just follow the instructions in the file that comes with the foruminstall.

but make sure your host supports scripts of the type you want to use, for instance many free ones dont accept MySQL scripting.

Also make sure you know what platform the server is, whether it is Unix etc.

as for dreamweaver, I suggest you get the trial version from www.macromedia.com, perhaps along with the trial of macromedia Flash.

I have tried to learn flash, but it's so strange...

Sometimes things work and sometimes they just get messed up and you have to do that thing over again. >:(

Ah the days upon days upon months I've worked with flash projects, and the toils of doing it all over again...That's what I from now on save my projects in stages, when one is complete I save, and then work from there. It helps :) Try www.flashkit.com for tips and stuff.

I takes 2-3 years, well unless you go crazy and have nothing else to do in your sparetime, to really learn how to develop *good* websites. Don't expect to make a site like FED2k overnight or even in a month.
