Well....others are "allow research of advanced xxxxx", which are quite...useless

But they don't cost you anything that I have seen, so just research things such as advanced ships, and others that I've seen that seem useful. And the resource conversion sounds neat, especially if you need some fast and have energy to spare.

Definately - it will tell you if a planet is good or crappy. Also my advice - if a planet stands alone in space it is usually awesome - otherwise - the clustered planets are usually crappy.
