A housecat can survive on its own (well, MOST can), but a dog must revert back to what it evolved from to survive. I.e. vicious, snarling wild dog/wolf/etc. I don't mean literally as in changing shape. But dogs must adapt to live without humans. Cats may be sweet and cuddly but they also have the ability to live without us without changing. That's why wildcats look so similar to housecats.
