Sure, the EU should be extended, I agree, but not before they quit the subsidies (I don't know if it's proper English, excuse me if it ain't) to the farmers. We're paying craploads of money, just for that (just don't know the exact percentage of the total amount of money). And that crapload of money is going to be destructive when they continue the subsidies. Remember the amount of countries that want to join ? What do you think is one of their big reasons ? => They're going to receive crap loads of money !

What does everyone here think about an European one language? Should it be created, or should it be like it is today? And in that case, what language should be the european? German? French? Bad or good idea?

One language would be great, but I think too many countries are to proud and will refuse to learn any other language then their own (not to flame, but look at the French for example. Most of them don't speak Englisha dn won't learn either).

In any case the Dutch wouldn't mind I think. Most of us speak then 2 or more languages anyway :)

I am fundamental unitarist, but one language? That's not only utopia, that's a terror! Look here - we all must write English. Horrible! Everyone must have his right to speak. EU is technologicaly advanced, soon we will have some kind of "universal translator". I hope. Ban of language will bring back nationalism, and that will bring back wars to Europe. And the history would continue on it's bad way.

I say a total Eroupen union is the only way we'll ever b abel to stand up to the US and China.

No...breaking away from the EU is the only way we can achieve that.

There is no productive gain whatsoever in consumption by the unproductive.

Regards.

Hehe, Holland is also not as productive as you think we are..

That is right, I have been in several industrial countries and i know what you mean, but still we are doing a lot better than Bangla Desh. ;D

Holland does not produce much, we are a transport country. And our biggest export is to Germany.

Transport and trade are eminent production factors... >:(

or should it be that they are blackmailing us with destruction ?

What noncesense are u saying here. Like the three russian states, it would be great if they join EU, it minimalizes the risk of war in that area drastically (or are u for war)?

I have a certain respect for Eastern European scientific potential. Today they are in the process of emerging a new middle class of hard qualified workers. My quote rather referred to our own domestic lazy bums.

Now before you flame me again: not every person in need is a lazy bum!

Countries like holland have a conservative tradition in handling their currencies.

Obviasely NOT !!! Who is president of the European Bank? Yes, a Dutchman. Don;t come with some bullshit statements, people might get convused..

Why should I identify with that Dutch born person in Frankfurt ?

The Palestinian flag is waving from his balcony. His appointment was not a democratic decision ( whatever that may look like ) by the Dutch people.

This now went down the drain with countries joining the euro like france, italy and greece.

hmmm, little shitty holland

shitty alright, but little? Norway, Denmark and Sweden together count as many noses as Holland ( Netherlands ) alone.

would not manage without France and Germany. Greece and Italy got a much better economy then before, which is also good for the euro and for holland.

This I know for sure: Greece and Portuguese economies thrive on European subsidies.

Italy and France tend to use devaluation as an instrument to appease their populations. Now for them, the present German problems are a gift from heaven.

And germany seems to repeat it's own history after the ruddy prussians responsible for the weimarer inflation disaster also joined.

Hehe, it's great West and East germany went together. It will only strenghten the euro...

Maybe the sheer volume of Euro will be an advantage in the long run, but for now we have to deal with a bad socialism poisoned enterprise morale ( sorry for the exceptions in this ) . If you do not believe me, go and ask Daimler-Benz, who goodwillingly invested and subsequently lost in East Germany

And remember, deflation is worse then inflation.

Actually a bit inflation is great, the debts of people will get less automatically

So will also the thrive to be productive and the individuals taking care of the own retirement and needs for meagre times. Is that what you want ?

English would be that language

It's better that people can talk to each other in one language. Imagine how it would be, if a translator was recently invented, to meet someone in another country. Imagine how it would be to carry that thing with you everywhere you go. When you talk to friends, discuss things over internet, meeting a girl from another country...

You: (with translator) "Hello. My name is Mr. X"

Translator taking 30 seconds.

Translator: (talking): "H E L L O dot M Y N A M E I S M R dot X ENDofsentence"

Hehe, just a funny imagination. Anyways, I think we should have a one global language.

1 language is impossible.

There will always be some variants/accents etc..

And as spanish is the most used language of the world... Don't think native english speaking persons would want that ;)

Further more, english and american are already different languages actually ;D

But i vote for Dutch languages ;)

Why discuss about unifical language? You don't need to know someone's language if you really need something from him.

You mean, that when people aren't allowed to speak their own language they will rally?

If (or better Until) they won't make an uprising, they will harm such state as much as they can. They will hate it. Look at Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1914. Half of army disserted because they didn't want to fight for a country which had not allowed them to speak their language and then fought on Russian or Serbian side against the "beloved emperor lord".

It's so goddamn typical. Next year, in september, there will be a public vote if the public will accept EMU or not. 2 days after that, I get my voting rights because september 16 is my birthday, and I'll be 18. Anyways, I would vote yes, and I think everyone else will vote yes.

We here in Slovakia must wait until 2008. Horrible. Someone wants our economy to be fully controlled before it. I hope that communism in EU will perish before it.
