XTF
> You can see the smoothing of the hills is done correctly, but Dune 2 does not have any tiles which will make sandy hills connect to spicy hills (and vice versa). Then make sure sand and space are not 'connected'.BTW, the app looks nice. Is it resolution independent or does it work on 1024x768 only?
stefanhendriks
you are right, i have added mountains aswell and they also cannot be connected to sand directly (there has to be a normal rock tile between for correct smoothing). I will add these checks shortly, for now i don't really care yet. I also have a lot of school stuff waiting for me which really should get done asap. The app is in-game, so, its the same program. Basicly the Dune 2 clone can run in 512x384, 640x400, 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, all 16bpp. Whenever you run the game in 1024x768, the editor will be aswell. XTF
Could you add 1280x960, 1600x1200 and 2048x1536 too?
vidiware
why are it 1280x960... it is completly wierd, can't you add 1280x1024 too?
XTF
Because that's 4:3, like all others and your monitor.
stefanhendriks
thats probably possible aswell, the only limits are your hardware i guess. It won't be to much of a problem to add more resolution support, practicly the engine can support any resolution, but i limit the amount by the 'setup'. XTF
That requires 1280x720, not 1280x1024 ;->
vidiware
well my screen act wierd under 1280x960 or what it is.But Ste4fan, can you please release some files for the public? or at least send ME a test version?
stefanhendriks
Don't worry, it wont take to long before any beta release will be made. I want to open the project on the Allegro community site so i can update it easily there for the Allegro.cc website. There you'll be able to download it and i will notify everyone about that here. When a full version is ready, i bet i can get it hosted up here ;)

Gobalopper
How much of the map do you see when you play at 2048x1536?
XTF
How much of the map do you see when you play at 2048x1536?100% horizontal and 75% vertical if 16x16 tiles are used and the maps are four times as large as the original maps. stefanhendriks
lol, that would be cool. The maps are 128x128, so it will be 100% visible i guess. Anyhow, my computer does not support that resolution. My laptop cant handle it due the TFT and my normal PC neither.. TFT aswell. (limits you to 1024x768 with my model). DukeLeto
Will this have a "Skirmish" mode-type thing? That's the one thing that really sucked about Dune II. And will you be able to select multiple units at once?
stefanhendriks
Skirmish mode? you bet. Multiple selection? yes sir! :) I improve things as much as possible ofcourse, but i want to stay as much with the Dune 2 stuff aswell. Its kinda mix of C&C and Dune 2 here.Skirmish mode will be cool to programn, i am really interested in AI and such.
DukeLeto
OK! I'm waiting! ;D
djhenry
WOW!man... i mean WOW! that's some hard work on the clone....well, it must be demanding A LOT !if there is anything we, in the community can do to help, plz post a messy `bout itthat's really great... and in my opinion it looks better than any dune fan product (dune 2000, emperor etc.) i have ever seen !!!!! ;D
koen
It looks very cool :D
stefanhendriks
thanks. I suggest you take a look at Dune Legacy if you didn't, its a very nice clone! Yes, its very demanding. I want to match the Dune 2 things as much as possible. Like animation (flags, animating refinery, animating units, etc). Also get the Dune 2 feeling is hard, because it aint Dune 2 at all and there are some improvements. I like it how its going now , i might have Carryalls working soon (if i ever fix my darn angle bug) and working. When they work, i will post a screenshot again. minniat
To make better Dune2 feeling maybe you could introduce sidebaricons. But as far as it is possible to select more units(thank god :O) there would be just multiple icons (like in SC,WC3).
vidiware
sidebar and the topbar...and the old menu system. And 6teams would be great
