gunner154 Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 It's all up to the host...But there are some horrible people when you join their games and ask if you can ally with them, they say no, you leave, and they start cussing and harrassing you like h***.
pointybum Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 I am surprised no one has mentioned Hbomb and his bizarre setts?I walked into one of his rooms a few days ago and all the boxes on the right were lit up. I asked him wtf is that all about (I was under another nick as he would have kicked me out under P'bum (( he doesnt like me :)))), and he says 'wicked'. I said that LW would cause lag... He says, no you are misinformed. Some people just dont evolve, do they.. They are just stuck in.. reverse.lmao
Marcel71 Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 Host Setts: Fisher Plain and 10k.Me: BIGGER MAP PLZ...So i think it's ok to ask for different setts, but HOST DECIDES !!yeah, but i thought fisher plain was the biggest map?correctIt is ment ironical... You left out the part that first the person says: MORE MONEY....It is such a newbie sentence... Just like BIGGER MAP....If a newbie with a big mouth enters the gama and it is Knife Fight with QM setts the first thing they say is BIGGER MAP, MORE MONEY...So i am ironical if i say BIGGER MAP on Fishers Plain... ::)like an automatic newbie comment?Correct ethan

pointybum Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 absolutely, but misinforming others when it is crystal clear that lw causes lag? Give the guy a dog biscuit and he'd bite your hand off and leave the biscuit.
Taqwa11 Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 Well, some people's settings are dead giveaways to what kind of game they play. When I see 30k and Guild, for example. Or a non-spice map and Ix (projections and probably incredible lag if the game lasts long). Or Knife Fight against partners who are both Ordos, and low money (look out, Atreides). Or, for that matter, 30k vs. partners who are BOTH Atreides and who insist on no Guild (you don't want to be the poor fool on the bottom of the map between those two mino marchers while your partner is way up at the top of the map--LOL).Personally, I like games that have about 10-15k money, no boxes on except crates, and a medium to large size map. Anything can happen on those settings. There is less lag w/o living world. There is no pain in the ass fog of war. There is no dead giveaway about what is coming up. The game is unpredictable at the start, which is as it should be, IMHO.
Marcel71 Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 "no boxes on except crates" There is nothing more i hate then the game begins and some poor sucker gets a guild from a crate in the beginning of a game....Destroying your base with it when u don't have units yet !!!Crates are unfair according to me.
Taqwa11 Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 You are right, Marcel. I prefer no crates too. But it seems that most people leave them on. Therefore, although I don't really like crates, they are acceptable to me simply because if all the other conditions are met, I can live with the possibility of a crate bonanza--after all, I have benefitted occasionally from good fortune found in a crate.
Elite47 Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 If i find a crate in the early game in a qm, if i get a guild tank or an advanced carrial or devastator i will send it to the back of my base or something to use it in late game. Its unfair, theres no way to stop a guild tank or carrial in the beginning of a qm.If i used one of those crate items to win or give myself a big lead i wouldn't feel like i actually one, the crate did it for me. In my opinion crates blow and i wont use them on a good/fair competitor.
Taqwa11 Posted October 11, 2002 Posted October 11, 2002 Well, Elite, I would certainly use a freebie in QM--after all, the damned storms and worms which are default on QM often make it a luck game anyhow--especially for Atreides since those damned worms really have a taste for Minos. On custom, I use a freebie also, simply because I've never come across an opposing player who didn't use one on me. Congrats for being such a fair competitor, Elite. You know, you were always a welcome M3T4L member until you jumped ship, bud. If you think you might buy Generals, think about "M3T4L up your ass!"
Oper90 Posted October 13, 2002 Posted October 13, 2002 I've updated the web site ... you can now download *FEW* & Few*Jr's Emperor Maps (You must have WinZip or a Zip program to uncompress them) ... currently not map packer compatable. Here's the URL:http://fp1.centurytel.net/FEliteW/fedaykin_elite_warriors.htm

IxianMace Posted October 16, 2002 Author Posted October 16, 2002 Yes, I have almost always play with money at 10k or below now, and everything off. I'm getting used to more games with superweapons on in them now.Anyway, I think it's pretty clear that the host decides what the setts in his/her room are now, and if someone that doesn't come in doesn't like the setts, then they can leave and make their own room. Heheh, as one of my WOL buddies said a long time ago: "If you don't like it, leave it." ;D Of course, people are allowed to request changes to the settings, but that doesn't mean that the host has to comply.
AWACS Posted October 17, 2002 Posted October 17, 2002 yes yes i agree, have you noticed that there mutch more quotes of quotes now than there was?
