fthg42 Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 There's something that's been bugging me for quite a while? Is there a difference between Muad'dib and Maud'dib, or is one merely a typo? Frank Herbert exchanges the two spellings constantly through Heretics of Dune. Was there some explanation that I missed or is it just some other way of naming him?Excuse my stupidity, if it is indeed stupidity.
nampigai Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 He was getting senil...(did I say that) ;)
fthg42 Posted December 11, 2001 Author Posted December 11, 2001 Well, he certainly was...inconsistant, shall we say, in the latter booksWaff (or is it Weff? Worf? Warf? Whatever. The Tleilaxu Master.) turns into Scytale between books. Never in Heretics is he called that by the Bene Gesserit, and afterwards it's "Master Scytale".... ::) ::) ::)
nampigai Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 Maybe he died alot earlier, and the one who wrote the last was a Ghola, with not all his memory restored?
evilbaronatreides Posted December 11, 2001 Posted December 11, 2001 well maybe he had clones, or the ever so popular multiple personalities.
evilbaronatreides Posted December 14, 2001 Posted December 14, 2001 logical choice. a face dancer seems like one of those people that would be a little etchy
Digital Guerrilla Posted December 16, 2001 Posted December 16, 2001 That sounds to be the truth for a face-dancer. Always having to be someone else not knowing if you are really this person or that person. BTW what is the true form of a face-dancer when it is not posing as someone else? How do they change into others do they just need to see them or have like a sample (blood?) of the subject to be imitated?
evilbaronatreides Posted December 16, 2001 Posted December 16, 2001 huh....how do they do that ??? ??? :-/ must be magic...all i remember is they are hemaphodrites, but i doubt thats any use
quoudam72 Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 Face-dancers were hermaphrodites I always thought they were asexual well atleast in there original form.
thomas Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 woa woa, hemaphrodites can't mate and don't really have genitals, right? or was that something else?
nampigai Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 I think they have an overlarge klitoris or a very very very small penis. but i don't know if they can get children, that is the human form, and their faces are very strange, it's like their aren't man or women but a mixture, but that's also in the name. snails and worms are hemaphrodites as well, but they'll have to mate.
Gobalopper Posted December 17, 2001 Posted December 17, 2001 Ok ok, we don't need to talk about hermaphrodites, sheesh. ::)
