Devastator_Mech
Thats different, i mean playing fair and square.
IxianMace
How was engi dropping not playing fair and square? I didn't cheat or anything. ???
Devastator_Mech
But you knew an AI has no defence against those attacks and ....... c'mon, common sense.
IxianMace
Well, if you want to beat an opponent (AI or human), why would you attack them where they are well defended, if you can hit them hard where it hurts? It's still playing fair and square, just using some devious tactics. ;D
Devastator_Mech
Then its not anymore.
IxianMace
Tactics are still playing fair and square. You don't win simply by running up to the enemy base and going nuts with everything you've got. Most of the time it doesn't work that way. Devastator_Mech
Well thats how you play fair and square
Big Mentat
Oh comeon Anna, u're actin like the AI has feelings or summin. (its not his fault he's stupid :D)
Devastator_Mech
Well...... yea, they're stupid in all sorts of ways.
IxianMace
To put it simply, using tactics is still playing fair and square at the game. Take 1 Laser Tank vs 1 Minotaurus for example. Do you think the fight would be fair if the Laser Tank just stood there and shot the Mino while the Mino returned fire? The Laser Tank could win here easily, but if you want to play 'fair and square' then I guess it wouldn't stand a chance. ::)
Devastator_Mech
Thats why i rarely use Ordos, their unit is just too cheap.
IxianMace
The key to using Ordos, is micromanagement, experience, and just plain skill. Ordos units can be very effective, you just have to know how to use them properly. You might think they're 'cheap', but at least they're effective. Big Mentat
R u kiddin? Ordos rule!!! The laser tanks r the best, cos they fire whilst on the move. But Ordos crap? NO WAY!
Devastator_Mech
So could mongoose?
IxianMace
Yes, but Mongoose turrets take turn slowly, the Mongoose does not self-repair, and it isn't as fast as the Laser Tank.
Big Mentat
I only ever use mongooses for defence against air attacks. They die way too easily otherwise.
Devastator_Mech
The well the mongoose has AA capability, its engine doesn't break down once been hit and its shots tracks.
IxianMace
Yes the shot may track, but Laser Tanks never miss their targets because the laser is an instant hit weapon.
Devastator_Mech
Then they hit rate is very close, but who has a more powerful hit?
IxianMace
The Mongoose had a more powerful hit, but the Laser Tank can regenerate after its been damaged. Meaning the Laser Tank can hit the Mongoose and slowly wear it down, while retreating and re-attacking after taking damage to regenerate. Devastator_Mech
I'll doubt the laser could retreat after being hit.
IxianMace
Laser Tanks are much faster than Mongooses, and they have shields. The shield will absorb the initial damage. The Laser Tank can then retreat and recharge its shields and any health lost, and then keep wearing down the Mongoose again and again until the Mongoose is dead. Devastator_Mech
c'mon, its not 1vs1.
IxianMace
Well in groups, Laser Tanks are even more effective against Mongoose. They can swarm one at a time, kill it all with 1 shot (if there's enough Lasers) and then retreat. Some Laser Tanks will probably die, but overall the Laser Tanks will emerge victorious. Devastator_Mech
I only need one mno in that mongoose group and your lasers are dead.
