Looks that way. Is that what the "News" section is leading into? Commercialization of Fed2k eh. How sad. Sure, it's not too bad just yet, but I know how this movie ends.EDIT: Make it so smilies work in Post Titles. And where the heck did the "Remove Message" button go????????????????????????????????

I still have it:)

Actually, the news forum is simply just another, easier way to update the news. Gob is bringing in a whole new system on the entire site, and this is just part of it.

I think the news thing is a waste of bandwith in my opinion and whare did the remove button go? sigh... i find myself agreeing with nav........there are to many froums by the way.......

Welcome to the bandwagon, Ex.Yes, way too many forums, and despite the fact that it will stay that way because "that's how Gob and Co. *like* it", the reality still remains that by isolating the Forum users from each other - even if it's their own fault for being too lazy and/or stupid to view multiple Forums - you are stifling discussion. There is no more Remove message button. Please bring it back. And by "new system", does that mean "new Ad-infused system"?

The news bar is just news about the forum/site not advertisements and only takes up a single line. I don't see the big deal and it there to remind people of things.

Eventually there will be a way to close categories so you don't see all of them like on the old board.

The reason there are news boards now is because the news system now uses the messageboard and to do that they have to be there own boards otherwise anyone could post news to the website.

Remove isn't coming back until I find a way to not allow removal of posts after a certain time limit.

And yes the Emperor strategy boards are being moved into one "general" board like the other games.

Ex: The Dune editing news board is not another mesage board about Dune editing. It's just where the news posts are made, same as the FED2k news forum, which is why you can't post topics there.

Nav, there are no ads, the new system has no ads, although I sure as hell wouldn't mind if there were. We do all the stuff on this site for free. I sure could use some cash from doing all the work I do on this site, and Gob does a hell of a lot more.

The News boards are just that, boards that contain copies of the news on FED2k and Dune Editing, they are not there for general dscussion. They make posting, deleting, and editing the news easier. They eliminate the need for a seperate news publishing site we have to go to to publish the news. Plus, as I said before, a lot of the regular forum visitors don't visit the news page. This way they can see the news and go straight to the forums.

As for there being to many boards, that has already been discussed ad nausem. More people like the multiple forums than dislike it. If people are isolated on these boards, it's there own fault they're to lazy to make that one click on the select forum menu to get them from one forum to antoehr. If they are that lazy, they arn't gonna want to post about Emperor, or the miniseries, and msot likley would get pissed having to search through 6 pages of new posts trying to find the 6 topis they themselves are interested.

More people like the multiple forums than don't. The strat forums arn't being used much any more, so they are being compressed into one. A couple of the hsoted sites are no longer active, so there forums are going. But thats all the compression thats going to tack place.

Hmm, how about product placement and such? I could be in the middle of a post and say, well, right now I'm enjoy a nice, cold Pepsi. Damn, thats refreshing."

Or in the news:

"Cryo is out of buisness. But, on the other hand, you can buy a hamburger from McDonalds for 39 cents today!"

undsputed goes to get a pepsi ::)

Nobody go agreeing with Nav. He's gotta be the most critical person I've ever met. Do you like anything?

undsputed opens his pepsi and rolls his eyes at another Nav post :P

Remove isn't coming back until I find a way to not allow removal of posts after a certain time limit.

Why? What diff does it make? Here's a *great* idea for the "News": every time you remove a feature from the site without notice, put *that* in the "News" so us users aren't left thinking: wtf?

And yes the Emperor strategy boards are being moved into one "general" board like the other games.

What is the Emperor General Discussion for then? Let that be for general strat discussion as well as everything else. Otherwise the Emperor General Forum has little purpose. It would be wonderful if you put them both together. Please do. It won't be as bad as you are imagining that it will be.

Nav, I think we're having a bit of a communication problem here. The "news" messageboard isn't for messageboard news or anything like that. When we have a news article to put up on the main page, ie. that cryo is going down the tubes, we post it in that forum and it is automatically posted on the main page. All updates to the forum are psoted in the "New messageboard thread", and that is mentioned on those little news tidbits up on the top of your screen.

Removing posts has been gone for awhile now. And it wasn't even on the old board either. Normally I report changes but that was something that shouldn't have been enabled in the first place.

And the strategy boards aren't going to merge with the regular discussion boards.
