Up to debate "again".

Since I've started playing emperor (February), I didn't see any atreides player on top of QM, and some months not even in top 5.

I was told that last year once a player won QM tournament with House Atreides, well 1 time or even 2 times in more than a year..... exceptions don't brake rules, if you know what i mean.

I don't play EBFD since June, but I thought about the following reasons, please tell me your comments:

1) QM, is exactly like that QUICK, Atreides are not good at that, maybe if there were LM (Long macht) maybe Atreides would dominate.

2) Big numbers rule = meaning that in an test of QM of one year, the fact is that Atreides are proved to be a weak house in those setts.

Like with any game, usually bugs are found out in a short time, like those that were fixed in the patches, but some bugs or disadvantages needed more time to be proved like evidence, i think 1 year is more than enough to say that given the last 12 months records, Atreides are not in equal conditions of other houses for QM setts. Maybe if WW wouldn't have called off their support for EBFD some things mights have changed.

Well, this topic won't make any difference in the game, and yeah, it's an old topic. However, I agree with you, Zamboe.

The air drone castration was Westwood's dastardly deed done to Atreides just before Westwood really abandoned the game. Atreides IS a slow house, especially on QM settings.

Yes, there should have been a multitude of patches to make Emperor the game it should have been. At least one of those patches should have dealt with allowing settings variations in QM. Another should have been what Blizzard just did in WCIII--narrow the range between opposing player match-ups. Pathfinding bugs and waypoint bugs should have been fixed. I think pathfinding bugs affect Atreides more than any house because when those big, stupid minos start bumping into one another and taking the long way around, it takes even longer than normal for them to get anywhere. The Guild should have been downgraded somewhat for sure. In addition to lowering the cost of the new paper air drone, the useless, or nearly useless units like the Hark flame tank, the Tleilaxu zombie guys and the Guild worm thingies should have been upgraded to make them worth building. Finally, they should have made it so that ANY multi-nicking from the same address would result in a DQ for the month.

But all that is water under the bridge. Westwood left Emperor--still one of the best games ever made--to rot. Damn you, Westwood.

I disagree. The reason you don't see as many atr at the top nowadays is because all the best have left. If d3kdragon, kebabshop or dawg were still here, things would be different. And if freerunz really gave it a go he could take the whole ladder. Besides, krazyorse was a very close second this month, and under normal circumstances he would have stayed at the top, but marcel challenged X which is very rare for the last day of the month.

All i have to say is that a good atr is hard to beat. Rageatr is extremly good, and he is an awesome atr player. I think atr has one of the most well balanced options. They have inf, bikes for early, and minos, and drones late. The drones had to fixed, they could out run all aa, except direct aa fire. Right now the air drone is still worth its weight in gold. What other house has an air unit that kills so ones spice as fast as an airdrone.

What I would really love is to see how far I could go without people ducking me ( yes even before I said I was Atrown, and used the sn Atrown in qm ) and if I could actully get a qm more then onve in a blue moon. Until next post, Vilgent.

Exackly what I did with Atrown, I soon hit 1st worldwide in the early days of the month, and then no one would play me anymore, so I had to take a long break before people would play me and I lost my 1st place spot that I MIGHT of had a chance to ahng on to first......Until next post, Vilgent.

Its against the rules to use 2 nicks in the tournament system in the same month.

It's always a mistake to take the early lead. You can't stay on the throne. As you found it doesn't work. Play sporadically during the first week or two or start halfway through the month. Like I said it helps to have a non-intimidating name like "fluffy12" or "fuzzycat3". You might even try an indescernable combonation of letters an numbers like "g2qg5q97g" or something.

Well, i played in the beginning of the month a lot and at the end not anymore. There are some players who never duck: biorock, vande25 (en1gma69), stef0791 (although he d/c's so u have to fast destroy some buildings before he d/c), brianvd, sh3lshock, ace, cerb, xvayne, aviade, krazyors and some other peeps.

I know the ducking is bad. but play a few days a lot of games and after that occasionally.

And about atr, i remember a time that nobody wanted to play ordos because it was such a louzy house. Now they are alwayse #1 in qm.

I think it's the players who controls the house.

HELL no. I just make compact names that the average ducker cant understand like hopnhoopr (means hopping hooper)

awww shucks, i'll never beat ACE in QM. :(Taq is right. ATR is the worst House because of speed and pathfinding bug issues. Combine them together, and you've got huge problems. Atreides unit are the hardest to move, and the hardest to make fire efficiently. When I need to get Minos to a battle, which takes *forever* by *DEFAULT*, and then they start going in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION of their destination as soon as they come remotely close to any outcropping on the map -the bugs have cost me the game. My spice is dead and it dies by pathfinding bugs, not by lack of skill or understanding or error in my gameplay tactics.Atreides are the slowest (in terms of the amount of time into the game it takes until they have a reasonable defense and can mount a reasonable offense), hardest to move, and weakest House by far in the early game. All this, and the millions of pathfinding bugs which severely affect the ability to have Atreides units move to the battle and fire efficiently, and Atreides is definitely the worst House in the game.

I don't know about today but when it first came out, ordos ran the show. I mean back when Kobratank was on top and his clan was there (can't remember there names). There were quite a few good ordos layers in the top 10.

By the way, is fuzzycat taken, because it sounds pretty good?

attre are not worst than the others...but you ve to use it in the right way...DON'T TRY TO RUSH WHEN YOU ARE ATTREIDE !!!LOL

Krazyorse, I have to respect your opinion. I've played you in the past and won only once--and that was in a 2 vs. 2 months ago, so I know how you play Atreides.However, I think you'll admit that on certain maps the pathfinding bugs for Atreides are horrendous. Any map with narrow spaces or lots of infantry rock causes those Minos to suddenly lose their minds.Yes, there have been some VERY good Atreides players. If I played as often as they do and really took the time, I might become one of the truly elite Atreides players too. If Ace took Atreides and really worked at it, he'd be in the top five QM at the end of the month (he's already won the Ordos and Hark titles). But even you--and guys like Ace who have been around since the beginning--should admit that there have NEVER been a majority of Atreides players in the top twenty as there have been on occasions for Ordos and Hark.I really like playing an Atreides style game. I like long games. I like strategy rather than five minute wipe-outs from massed insects or carpentry tools. LOL. But unfortunately I chose--and still prefer--the house that is most difficult to dominate the ladder with--Atreides. I totally respect anyone like you, Krazy, who has learned to master Atreides and dominate with it. My proverbial hat is off to you, D3K, and other Atreides masters, because you have dominated against greater odds than others from the other two houses, IMHO.

yeah it's true...depend of when you start and on which map..

if youre harvester begin just next to the enemy troops....it's almost dead..and more than the attreid troops are slow..

but to see which house is the strongest we should play games without sub-houses...and without them it's another game you can't play like with them..

the other question is what is the strongest sub-house!

and what is the stongest squad house/subhouse!

It's not how you play - Atreides are fundamentally disadvantaged in the early game.

Btw to all you dumbasses out there, Xvayne's Cheaters List is by no means official. ROFL
