Is "Command and Conquer 1: Tiberian Dawn" considered abandonware? ??? It's 7 years old, unsopported by Westwood, and you can't buy it in stores. (At least where I live, you can't.)

Only the developer or publisher or whoever can make it legal to become abandonware. And to my knowledge it isn't, although it could be since it's been so dang long.

no it isn't abandonware yet, you won't find the original C&C easily available for download. aside from being able to still purchase it at some stores (and especially online stores), the download size would be too much without altering the contents (ripping out movies and such), and i think that is illegal unless done by the makers of the game themselves.

Man I know a couple of shops that haven't changed their inventory for like 5 years. Lot's of classic (or just plain old) games can be found there, like the original Dune, MDK and stuff like that. Might as well be a museum :).

Yeah, people also messed up the Populous games aswell, calling Populous The Beginning various things like Populous 3, just to be confusing!

Dune 1 is also abandonware, but it is still a great game, but it frequently gets mixed up with Frank Herbert's Dune. I dont know why, the games are quite different and have a very big time gap between them!
