neonext
i see that the harkonnen symbol is some bull-like animal, and i think atreides is some type of bird. my question is:does the Empire have some kind of symbol? i realise that the Empire is not really a house, but still, does it have it's own symbol? Timsvs
im not sure, i thought it was a Lion or somethin, maybe the golden throne is their symbol?
neonext
i hope someone knows. i need it for my game, i plan on having the Empire as a playable side...
nampigai
the harkonnen should have a gryphon, Atreides has the hawk and the Corrino has the lion as their crest
Emperor Harkonnen
it is not a bull it is a male sheep
Frodo
it is not a bull it is a male sheepno, westwood changed it, in the books it was a gryphon, but westwood made it the ram.
TMA_1
Actually westwood made it a ram. a big difference from sheep. And no they didnt invent the crest. again they stole from DE. I think I am going to make a list of it. It was originally in the DE that it was a ram. The prequels say its a gryphon though.
Colonel_Worf
Harkonnen is a blue griffin, that's why it bugs me that in the miniseries everything is red. The house color is blue!!
exatreide
red seems more.....agressive....blue is the color of calm ect...Thats probebly why they chose red. To kind of aid the fact that the harks are heartless flesh eating pigs. :P
Colonel_Worf
Yeah... that's what Harrison said, oh well...
Emperor Harkonnen
no red is the color of communismcomunism=evil
Vanguard3000
In heraldry, red is a very noble colour. It represents courage, among other things. Blue is also noble, but not in the same way.Actually, I like the idea that Houses Atreides and Harkonnen don't have "traditional" good guy/bad guy colours. Not only does it break the old clich
neonext
the colors in the game make sense, blue for the good guy, red for the bad, then green fit ordos well because they are money-driven people. purple also was good for the empire because purple is well associated with royalty. i realise that the colors may not be 100% accurate, but if the colors were all switched it would be too wierd
Dante
Yes, and playing many opponents... a pink missile tank looks very silly. What would the Harkonnens say if their flag were to be pink?
nemafakei
Well, the two main houses used the traditional computer game player 1 / player two colours, red and blue. Green is also a common colour. That seems to be the reasoon why WW chose the colours.
TMA_1
Maybe its because the focus colors of the light spectrem are blue green and red.lol never know. but usually thats the focus of colors for us.
nemafakei
...Therefore these colours were easy for computers to display (early computers had fewer colours, of course), therefore, these colours became the most popular from the beginning. Edric O
I noticed red is the most widely used color in representing sides in computer games. Almost every game has at least one "red" side.
exatreide
Blue..seems to be used quite often.
Caid Ivik
What are symbols of House Richese, Tleilax and Ix?
Vanguard3000
According to the prequels, the symbol for House Vernius is a copper helix on a purple field. I believe the colours of House Richese are also copper/purple.They never mention a symbol for the Tleilaxu.
TMA_1
Also house richese's symbol is an oil lamp.
Vanguard3000
You mean like an "Alladin-style" oil lamp? Or a tall, thin oil lamp (like from the early 1900's)? Where does it say this?
TMA_1
From what it seemed it sounded like an alladin,, middle eastern oil lamp. Not like the new kind that used whale oil. Strangly, the DE doesnt mention Richese as a house. They arent counted in the landsraad councel. I will have to read frank herberts books to see if the DE is right on this. I know hte prequels talk of it being a house though.
Vanguard3000
Richese was referred to only in the terminology of the original Chronicles. It is referred to only as a planet, not a House.
