Yep last I talked to him he was having some problems though. But it should be ready soon.

That's great, i hope that it has more options though.

Next thing useful would be a 3ds - xbf converter.

Could someone make that?

That would be awesome! I have made a sword for the Maros Ninja using *.3ds. If I could only import it. And Adrian, when you edit the xbf file in the text format using wordpad, can you just save it as .xbf in wordpad?

Wow, this will be so cool, we're on our way.Keep in mind that this is still in beta, so, it proabably won't work greatly, but, further then ever before. Why wasn't it announced here apart from this thread?Scratch that, could someone explain to me in lamens terms how to use it?Read FileSave to Textright?Maybe it didn't work with those files. You realise what this means? We can now make models, our very own, seriously out of proportion. This opens a whole new line of game crashing.

right?

Yes you are right, I have got the program down pat. I have even tried to make a new model using it. But it crashed emepror. Here is what you do... You open an xbf, then you save it as txt. Then you can view the individual meshes. Once you do this you can change them. Then if you change them click File>>Save XBF File. If you didn't, and you want to change textures or manually change the matrixes, then you open the text document and save it as .xbf! Am I right Adrian? I just love your program! ;D ;D ;D

Before we go into new models, what does this mean for the current models? Can we put deployable attributes to any unit? What about the TRUE/FALSE statements? Are those open too?

Curious, it seems the FX section, not offered for edit by the viewer but available to a hex editor, seems to code, not only for textures but also some other functions, such as dying and moving, fighting, deploying, etc. The viewer is very impressive itself; just the mere accomplishment is amazing. I would be very interested in using new models in my mod, of course, and this blows open the door to new possiblilties. I wonder if you changed the values for polygons that are not directly changed by animations, would that transformation keep? In any case, we should be at LEAST able to safely change the size and dimensions of current units for the immediate present. That is revolutionary in itself.

You can't save an Xbf file from a text file in Wordpad. I could write program code that could read in a text file of the correct format and convert it to an Xbf file, but this would take me a lot of time and you would still have to enter in numbers manually. A better solution would be to use programs like 3D Studio Max to create meshes and replace meshes in the Xbf file with the new meshes. I don't have 3D Studio Max or a similar program and I'm not familiar with the 3Ds or other 3D mesh file formats at present, so I hope some people who have the programs or info on the file formats would send me info and an example mesh file I could check out. My email address is aia96@softcom.net. Also, you can post info on this forum. For using the program, you should first read the text file included with it, then if you have questions, you can email me or post on this forum. You can also send me or post lists of the Xbf files it doesn't work on yet so I can check into what updates are needed. You can also suggest other features you would like to see in the program.

How can you import meshes? But for things that don't work, there is the...

female civilian

male civilian

about half of the buildings

many others that i can't remember

You can use Wordpad to view the text file (and print it out if you want). You can select Next Mesh to view the first mesh, and then use Next Mesh and Prev Mesh to look thru the meshes. You can select Edit Mesh and then enter new X, Y, and/or Z coordinates to reshape the mesh, then select Update Mesh to update the display and Xbf file buffer with the new values. Then you can save the new Xbf file.

ok, but what if you want to change textures and sounds using it. YOu open it in word and change them, then there is no way to save those changes as an xbf.

So do I have to do anything like open the txt file after saving?

Vidiware guided me through it, and it still didn't work, maybe it isn't good with my comp.

Ill experiement some more.
