bettering moderator situation

well probably many of you have seen my posts about moderators and wonder why I havent come up with any constructive ideas for making the situation better...

Being a moderator is probably hard. at the same time though it seems to give some people on this site a power high. These "newbie moderators" particularly. I believe there should be some sort of investigation on their effectiveness and usefulness. That moderators should obviously be fit for their job on the site. probably that is already "tested" but it seems to be flawed. There needs to be a focus on the people of the site. The average Newbie that just gets on and wants a fun time. thats what this site is about. Gaining information and having fun. Seems that too many class systems exist in this forum. That needs to be broken down and can be done very easily. Ultimatum would be perfect for the situation.

Another fix to problems would be a pole of effectiveness attached to moderators. Not to kick them off or anything just to show the moderators how they need to improve and how they are helping the people. Thats what being a moderator is all about.

There needs to be some restriction of power for moderators. If that is not easily done then there needs to be a big consensus on how to "be a moderator" It doesnt just come naturally.

A certain humility needs to accompany a moderator. I dont see that lately.

Also there is too much badmouth by moderators. Secret discussions and intrigue. This is very foul.

Well that is some of the stuff I believe would help. If there should be more then talk to the moderators like jesse and stuff.

Hey. I have been good latly! i moved a thread to general. Whare the creater modfied it and locked it. I have changed the BJ rules so you can be a slaver faction(still not budging onthe andriod faction yet)But........I am open to sugestions if it would increas your tolerance in me and your partisipation in fanfiction...Um why do you refer to gob as jesse?

And as I have said before, if there is a problem with a specific moderator contact myself or Mahdi. I don't mind telling the moderators to change what they are doing but if no one tells me there is something wrong then I'm going to assume they are doing their job.

If anyone has any complaints about myself or any moderator, make THEM aware of the problem, else they can't rectify their own mistakes and methods. That's how constructive criticism works.

The idea of the moderator is someone to whom the admin can delegate power to in order that the admin doesn't have to do all the work - restricting power means Gob does more work on the forum, and has less time for other things. Try to think of being a moderator in terms of work, not in terms of power. The 'power' in this case is merely the capability to keep the boards organised - equating to work.

TMA, as said in your previous post, if you've been mistreated by someone, I can understand you want changes, but do it via the proper way. The way you put things now, 95% of the mods are "bad guys". You talk about "newbie mods", which I consider myself part of, as I'm not that long a mod here. The things I do, I do in the best of my abilities, and in doubt, ask advise from Gob.

The discussion about the mods here, seem to be brought out half baked. You post something and do not get back with more details when the are asked for. IMHO, you Generalize the mods as a group, where I think you should be specific. That said, be specific to Gob or Mahdi and let them sort it out for you (like Gob asked in your previous thread), in stead of bringing the mods in general in a bad daylight.

Why ? Cause I want people to tell ME if they feel I did something wrong to them, so I can adapt and peform better in the future. You might not believe it, but I felt it as a "honor" that I have been asked to mod in a forum.. And I do not want anyone to feel/think that I am abusing my "power" here (or at lest at a small part of this forum).

I really would like you to stop this discussion about mods out in the open. If you (or anyone else for that matter) have a problem, talk to the person in question, or to Gob and/or Mahdi. Do not go out in the open and acuse "newbie mods" of abusing their power.. Remember when you complain about "newbie" mods here I feel complained about, cause I'm one of them..

Nyar. I have heard this intrigue myself from good sources. This isnt just a conspiericy theory. I dont name Moderators individually on my posts because I dont want to flame people. Sometimes its good for people to talk about it in open forum. You have nothing to do with this though Nyar. I can say that much. I was told that I was not being constructive enough. I put this out to show that I do want change. I am not about being a fake. My statements make sense because I have heard it from other people. Not just me.

I'm not going to argue with you TMA_1 because every time I do, I end up giving up and letting you do what you want and usually it ends up okay.

Oh and about the Clandestine meetings. I'm sorry I talk occasionally to other mods online, about stuff that usually has nothing to do with Fed2k.

One more thing, I know you are having IM conversations online about this. I've seen copies of them. I just want to ask, when have I acted like a brick wall towards you? Just a question, thanks.

TMA, I agree with you, problems should be dealt with, but not the way your currently are doing. You start to generalize here, which is wrong. You don't want to flame people, but the way I look at things right now, is that you flame a whole group (remember, newbie mods)..Go on MSN (or any other chat program), invite the persons involved and if you want with Gob, and talk it out. It shouldn't be that hard to accomplish..Again, if there is a problem it should be dealt with, but do it via the apropiate way..And I stick to the following, especially with hearsay:"Also there is too much badmouth by moderators.
