There's nothing wrong with having a friendly debate. I'm not saying we're going to be totally right - but that doesn't mean we can't discuss the topic.

Debating is nothing wrong. Some people can solve some problems if they have. For me proving is then if somebody starts talking things that probably don`t know much about but he/she wants show others how inteligent he/she is. Or if don`t take any notice of arguments of other person, cos knows everything. But if we have some topics why not answer.

If people have an oppinion about something they care about (war/peace, religion, ...) why shouldnt they discuss?  This forum is called "General" and its described as anything not related to Dune.

And if somebody really doesnt have to say anything, he doesnt have to.  But he shouldnt make fun of the peple who do care.

Yes, this is General forum, but that in no way means you can post about anything in any thread. This is about people proving themselves too much, it's general, so post about this or don't post at all.

To comply with that...I agree. People's egos do show on their posts (and mine, too, I admit), but who wouldn't want to be revered as a smart, cool guy on a forum.

I agree, a debate should be possible. And non of us knows all, or everything right. But it are still our ideas. And those are wurth mentioning sometimes. But as in all cases, "to much" is just to much of a thing.

True soul, but sometimes the prepared ant wanders too far from the hill. As in, you may have all this supposed evidence, debating against someone with none, and be dead wrong. Sometimes people just can't think or find any evidence to support them, but that shoudn't make them admit they're wrong - just need to find evidence if they intend to convince someone else.

Yep you are correct in that, facts can be wrong.. well in that case they aren't really facts but things can be twisted etc... In cases like that you really need to check the information you provide to check the validity of it. But yeah sometimes they can be wrong, So if the other person can justify what they say and it is a feasble view, then it would be thought about and looked into, but like i said, you always get those who cannot justify themselves.. for instance.. a certain person who plays emperor and annoys everyone with his posts, lol.

But yeah, you are right.
