Emperor Harkonnen
I have read Whipping Mek and Hunting Harkonnens. What others short stories are there?
Dunenewt
There's one set before each of the Legends of Dune trilogy, and I know there's one set between Hunters and Sandworms of Dune.Oh and there's Whispers of a Caladan Sea, or something similar. Emperor Harkonnen
I found these at the official homepage: -HUNTING HARKONNENS, which describes the deadly hunt by the cymeks for Piers Harkonnen, takes place just prior to the events of THE BUTLERIAN JIHAD.-WHIPPING MEK is a bridge spotlighting events in between THE BUTLERIAN JIHAD and THE MACHINE CRUSADE.-THE FACES OF A MARTYR takes place just prior to the events of THE BATTLE OF CORRIN.-A Whisper of Caladan Seas
Dunenewt
There's 'Sea Child' and 'Treasure in the sand' too.
Dante
The original six, the Dune Encyclopaedia, the stuff in Road to Dune. Also the House prequels and about 97% of the Legends series, which I include in the list but grudgingly. There came a point in Battle of Corrin where it just got too bad to carry on. Now I won't touch anything published after that.

gunner154
Now I won't touch anything published after that.*applauds* That is the safer way, before we wind up with a bad impression of the series.
Dunenewt
Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune really are worth reading. Hunters of Dune is really good, Sandworms less so, but you can't really read one without the other.
Emperor Harkonnen
I agree with you Dunenewt. Hunters of Dune is better, but I think that because we have very high expectations of the last Dune novel. Many will therefore be disappointed. I don't think the novel itself is worse than Hunters of Dune.
gunner154
I've been disappointed by Hunters from the get-go... but I'm still reading. At a very, very, slow, paaaccee...
Dunenewt
My main problem with Sandworms, is that I feel they perhaps brought back too many characters, which diluted the novel.
gunner154
They were starting that with Hunters, and the results weren't very positive.
Emperor Harkonnen
I agree. They could have left out Leto II, I didn't feel he had much of a function. When I first read Chapterhouse, and there being mentioned the gene samples possessed by Scytale. I thought that if BH and KJA went further with this, it would ruin the whole story. But after reading the books, I felt it was appropriate to have some characters revived, but there were too many IMO.
Dunenewt
Yes, I agree. Yueh's ghola was brilliant writing though. I like the way they explored his personality.
Emperor Harkonnen
also the baron was cool ;D But I think they made him a bit more perverted than FH intended him to be, and the impression one got when reading Dune and CoD. The Baron did evil things yes, but not for the sake fo evil itself or some perverted pleasure he got from it, he did it to reach an objective. Dunenewt
Don't forget that the Baron was a child before his memories were awakened,so that could explain it.
