Hello,

I want to invite everybody to visit my Dune 2000 fan website and if you like give comments to improve it. My English isn't that great so don't hesitate to point out (silly) error's. The website is now in BETA, or in other words, I'm still improving it.

You can find it here: http://d2k.lars.srhost.info

Here is already a small preview:

Your web sight looks good.  Makes want to try the game out.

a few (silly) grammatical suggestions:

on this page, http://d2k.lars.srhost.info/interface/

first sentence should read, "welcome to my fan ...."  not "on"

this page, http://d2k.lars.srhost.info/interface/?house=&data=mod

second paragraph, "find" is misspelled. (not "fint")

this page, http://d2k.lars.srhost.info/interface/?house=&data=images

I think you meant "future" not further.

That's all I found just glancing through.  Good work on the sight. ;)

If you wish to promote your site please do so in your signature or elsewhere. Posting about special events is acceptable.

Only about special events. I personally find updates about my website special, but I'm not sure if everybody feels that way. :)

I think I know what I will do - if I have news/updates I'll only post them if they are reasonable large changes to the website or put multiple small ones together and only post them once a week or less.

Visitors from this forum are my biggest potential visitors, so please tell me what you think about the website and where I could improve.

Since you post about a Dune2k fansite on a forum devoted to everything Dune, I think it's perfectly normal. I'm no mod however, so my reasoning might be erroneous.

EDIT: Visited your site, quite clever design, so heads up ;D However, the tooltips for the leftmost icon column get obscured by the border of the screen...

Wow, it's not supposed to look that way. Something must went wrong. What for IE do you use? For IE I only tested it on version 7.

edit: I installed IE6 to test and it's hell... nothing works like it should.

Hi,

I have made a big update to the Dune 2000 fan website, it's now in BETA 2 and this means:

  • Better Internet Explorer 6 support
  • Removed bad while loop in code causing website to freeze some times
  • Cleaner website url by making use of cookies for picking house

Future mods are on the way!

About the mod - Clash of the Landsraad:

In this amazing mod a strong infantry force is a must-have in the early stages of the game and will remain effective throughout. There is greater house and unit diversity and it is not economical to build up a single unit type.

More:

  • Gun Turrets fire anti-infantry incendiary rounds
  • Atreides can train non-stealth Fremen with an upgraded Hi-Tech center
  • Sardaukar are available to all houses but only through the Starport
  • Unit Sight has been completely redone.  Large vehicles have very low sight, infantry moderate sight, and light vehicles have the best sight values.
  • Find out more on the fan website!

I like very much your website's layout ( +the nice touches like the buildings moving a bit behind and all). I find that the in-game appearance really does nicely :)

I don't know for IE, but I ran into no issue by navigating with Opera (9.23) and Safari (3.04).

Did I mention that I really like the website's feel? :)

Thanks for the nice replies.

Work on the website continues, so any crits/tips are much appreciated and another new update with more website options and new mods is on the way. Tyson (Bashar on forum) has created the mod(s).

@Egeides: Thanks for testing.

@Andrew: I mainly used cut out parts from screenshots for creating the website, however for the two animated buildings I took the 8-bit image changer, saved the images, put them in Gimp, polished them a little and made it in an animated gif.

In 'secret' I (and Tyson) have been, and still are, working on a better version and most of it is already done.

It has adjustable view settings, a new page, under the hood a whole MySQL database, smarter menu and loads almost twice as fast as the old one (current one).

But before releasing it to the public I want to ask if there is something you guys, beside what FED2k already has, might want to see in it. Perhaps some images to promote the game (mod)?

Or put different, what do you want to see in a fan website?

Okay, BETA 3 is online.

It has:

* Options to change the website view

* Major speed improvements

* A MYSQL database under the hood

* New icons and images as well a new way to select your house

Please take a look and say what you think about it:

Note: The specification page is working (on test server), but not online, we (Bashar and I) first want to make it clearer and get the correct data. It will be possible to compare between the normal dune specification and one of the two mods (CotL and CorA).
