Timenn
But then you use it against the computer, who doesn't use the hit 'n run tactic.
Sardauker-Kirov
It takes 5 shots to kill a deva. My sonic tank's always get destroyed by them. I turned them around and try'd to fly and my sonic got damaged by the Deva and then destroyed.
Timenn
Heh? The sonic has the longest range together with the laucher, while the deva has no long range...
Sardauker-Kirov
They have a Average range. The sonic tank's takes some time to turn around and before he turns around he gets a new jacket of explosions of the Deva. Ohhhhh :O That jacket looks nice ;D
Caid Ivik
In Dune II isn't unit with greater range than Sonic Tank. Launcher and Sonic has 9-tile range, Deeviator 7. Also Sonic is much more accurate and powerful than Launcher.
Terror
more accurate.. not more powerful.. a missile from launcher does more damage
Caid Ivik
Only 10 hitpoints more (65:75). Also Sonic has 120 armor, Launcher only 100. And sonic blast does field damage.
Timenn
But the launcher shoots 2 missiles, and that does a lot of damage, if they hit...
gryphon
But they don't hit ;DDon't launchers also cause field damage ? They do in Dune 2000, I ones had the idea to protect my harvestfield and harvesters with launchers. NEVER do that, they destroy your harvestfield more than they do damage to the enemy. Timenn
Hehehe ;D ;D ;DYes they damage the spice field. I always put them in a corner. Othwise they demolish my own base...
Terror
they can target orni's :-)... well... not that they ever hit them... but at least they try... problem though is that they don't think of the consequences when they fire the missiles.... sometimes they hit my base.... correction... the always hit my base... especially my heavy factory.. Timenn
Am I right that troopers can fire in air?
gryphon
Didn't think they could do that.
Timenn
I thought I saw them once fire in the air. Well I'm sure they can't in Dune2k
Terror
i'm pretty sure they can't hit air in dune2 either
Caid Ivik
Yes! Troopers can shot down an orni! It's a best way to shot them down. Main damage of ornitopther attack is caused by many inaccurate R-turrets!
gryphon
Mmmm, going to try that sometime.Do you need a lot of troopers to shoot down an orni ?
Caid Ivik
Yes. The rocket is slow. But when you use about 10 squads, it would be enough.
Acriku
If Orni's can be shot down, then can Death Missiles be shot down? I had turrets all over my base, and it didn't even move to aim towards it. That would be unfair :'(
Timenn
Hmm, I never saw it, taking a missele down. And I have always many turrets
Terror
probably not.. only the newer games have units that can take down missiles.. they didn't think of it in 1992 :-)
Timenn
no WW rts...
Caid Ivik
On Earth are many states with anti-missile defence, but in Dune II isn't possible to shot down Death Hand.
Timenn
Ok, that's all I wanted to know ;)
Caid Ivik
But also, why you want to destroy it? It's too inaccurate to be also destroyable.
