Dune 4 (working title!) - mod for C&C 3

Not entirely, as 3D models and ideas can be made, as well as concept art.  If we plan now, we can make one of the most successful and well known mods out there for C&C3.

I am more of a RPG fan... so maybe you can take the Blizzard approach to RTS... unique units (heroes), I don't know. Maybe you can extend the fighting onto other worlds, more extensive as Emperor. I mean Conquering other planets just like you conquer Dune.

Well, I was thinking of having Corrino instead of Ordos (partly because the Deviator logic would be next to impossible to implement). Having them as the third side, playable after Harkonnen/Atreides battles were completed.  So we could have it follow roughly the events of Dune.  Having Harkonnen campaign first, where you wipe out Atreides, then a Fremen/Atreides campaign.  There would have to be slight changes, eg, the fact that vehicles would be used...

...so maybe the Atreides campaign would continue on to the events after Dune (but pre Dune Messiah).

If it is a mech you have to find someone that can create models.

If it is a tank - it will exist as the double-barrelled Mammoth in the final game and you are only looking at changing the weapons to a plasma cannon.

Are you planning to create new Dune building models like Vaporiser started to do (which looks now to be abandoned) or just retexture those that come with C&C 3?

Devastator should be a mech ;) But the main power should be in close-combat infantry and aircraft. However, I would strongly recommend to wait. Or perhaps to analyze BFME to get an idea, how it may work, for example the format and editability of animations and textures, tables, sounds...

I know it is interesting to have lots of units. Even armor. But it would also be interesting if you could have only infantry and air units, more like the books. And only the tchnology in the books. Meaning swords, shields and lasers.

I wonder if you could make an interesting game with only so few elements.

If you go through with this (which I think you should) make sure to consult with various ebfd online players. It's only really the old timers who understand how a game like ebfd works, and if you want your mod to be played online (which would be cool) it'd be a good idea to balance and test it with regards to pleasing the current Emperor community. I understand you're looking to make something independent of Emperor and the other games of the Dune lineage, but considering what draws players to its last RTS game and keeps them there for so long can only help.

The campaign will start of with you as the Harkonnens, destroying the Atreides just after they land on Arrakis, as per the book, and then the next one is the Atreides/Fremen, where they wipe out the Harkonnen/Sardaukar.

If you're going to have a campaign based on the books, then there shouldn't be any tank-like vehicles on Arrakis, only heavy trike-like things with anti-infantry guns. Another thing that you could do is have tanks in the city battles. If you have more than one planet, you could also have tanks, but I don't think they should be based on any of the Dune games such as Dune2, Dune2k, or EBFD. I haven't played any of the other Dune games. If you want to have more than one planet, then maybe you could use, say, a scenario based in the Sahara for Dune, South America for Caladan, and so on. One question: How are the Corrino going to fit in to all of this?
