D2TM - Progress screenshots

Took a while, but i implemented:

-mp3 support (recognized as add-on, else it will play midi files)

-particle system (primitive, yet working, see screenshots)

-sounds implemented basicly

-able to multi-select and move units

-new Ordos seed map (mission 1 ordos)

2 shots:

- showing smoke + shadow (new, so let me know what you think). They fade when the smoke dissappears

- trike blown up by a spice bloom, the explosion is a trike explosion, sharpened and will fade out very fast (as one smooth

motion).

EDIT:

replaced attachements with better quality jpg's.

firing bullets work. But units do not fire themselves yet. I have added a lot of animations, unit deaths, structures dying, smoke effects, etc. Sounds also are implemented. Smudge appears, walls can be broken, etc.

the smoke shadow is actually a particle too, which i made in psp.

So the smoke is existing out of 2 particles/sprites (whatever you prefer to call them).

attaching them makes it a whole, i thought it looked quite cool ;)

here is a nother screeny, using muzzle flashes for tanks (also particles...)

I'm sorry.. I can't wait to start trying this thing out (with the sound and everything).

Is it just me, or does the beta version screw up? I mean I started a game and I couldn't find myself, and I couldn't scroll. I started staring at shroud and unable to scroll around. It got locked. Sorry for my impatience ;)

ah yes, its because i use dune 2 gfx and did not draw anything myself...

@ the rest:

the beta version you can download is nothing like this. I have rewritten a lot (basicly started over though using pieces of code ofcourse (don't feel like reinventing the weel)).

superb! ;)

here i come with 3 shots...

Starport is functional now. Very nice, no limit yet in amount you can order, as long you have the money.

Shooting works as well, as shown before ofcourse. Units also react on being shot and enemy AI scans for units in sight, then goes after you to hunt you down. Is not 100% solid yet, i have seen tanks going after carry-alls.

Sandworms also are drawn.

Various draw bugs fixed. Health/spice bars are fixed now, etc.

working on mentats now. I don't have the mission text strings, that will be a pain to get them. But basicly its working now. I also use data files to store the movie sequences now, no quality loss and when zipped it is just as efficient as the gif files, besides that. I can update them without any hassle and they can be of any bit depth.
