Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children

So then, the movie that many RPG fans have been waiting for has come out in Japan and many have seen it.  It's been around the world going to Sundance, Venice and a few other film festivals.  It is the sequel to the best selling game Final Fantasy 7, and the second movie that Sqaure (now Square Enix) have released but is it any good.

Well I think it is.  The graphics are superb, the storyline is a bit touchy in places but overall is very good.  I'm  not going to dwell on it too much as most people haven't seen it.  But if you have, what do you think of it?  If you haven't waht are your thoughts on it?

You may be well ahead of me, but that was posted in march 22 and has sunk since then, so I think this post can be justified.

Eh? Coulda sworn this came out months ago... I have had the DVD for about 3 weeks. Of course, I can't say if this DVD is authentic or not, since it's made and packaged pretty well, but I digress...

Anyway, back to the movie, I liked the fact that I couldn't understand what was happening at all. :)

The first hour kind of sucked, since there was no action and I didn't understand anything what was happening. Some plague,but what kind of plague? :- Anyway, the last hour was awesome, with all that summoning of some sort of dragon and Cloud and his gang(That's my guess,anyway) fighting it. Then  there was that fight scene between Coud and two bad guys on motorbikes, and after that the final fight with Sephiroth. Good movie, I have it in Japanese with English subtitles, but it's still awesome. :)[/hide]

It was released in Japan on the 19th Spetember, or around that anyway, so the version you have probably isn't authentic considering the Japanese version didn't have the option of English subtitles.

Oh boy, where to start...

Loved the film, 10/10. Ending didn't orginally make me cry but it does now. Such a tradegic story is Final Fantasy VII. :'(

I've been playing FF7 again and the sheer number of characters that die is amazing. [hide]Dyne committing suicide really got to me this time around, guess I was just really young then and didn't appreciate the positions the characters were in.[/hide] Can't believe anyone at Square Enix actually remembered all the little things like the 'Love Less' sign in Midgar and the flashback of Zach and Cloud on the road to Midgar. That scene is actually a secret in the game. What I am especially happy about is that the film perfectly compliments the game - there are NO contradictions whatsoever. Anyone who says something like "oh but summon materia was red in the game" is missing the point completely. Mehh I loved the film and game so much.. hard to write about it. :-[

well it's been a success.  700,000 copies sold in japan.  That's got to be good.

[hide] That big Dragon type thing was supposed to be a summon, though in the version I have it isn't mentioned by name but it is assumed to be Bahumut or one of his connotations (in the game there were a few).

I loved that movie! The graphics are improved soo much after FF: Spirits Within, and the battles are really awesome. I heard there was one "final part" in the Final Fantasy VII saga that is going to be released as a game, along with one or two prequels, animated (not in 3D).

Hope they'll continue making FF-movies of all the other series too. Damn, if they keep this up they're going to be the first "game-coglomerate" that wins an oscar, lol...

Neo-Bahamut is a summon in FF7. He has a lot to do with the game.
