Bah, he's an old xenophobe who licks his lips too much. Can't say I think much of the choice, but of the three main parties (and I'm not saying I voted for one of them), The Liberal Democrats seem like the best choice. Pity the exit polls don't look too promising.

Heheh I was wondering if someone would do make a thread on this.

It would have been me, but ya know...

SNP are facist scum. Sorry. :-[

Romantic and wonderful though it would be, it would kill our economy. For that reason, and because I hate the idea of being governed from that building, I don't think Scottish Independence is feasible either. Not that that would stop me voting SNP, after all my constitu-thingy has a good SMP, who is SNP (I did that on purpose :P).

Well thats good to hear. ;D

Well if you're sure its safe to vote for em. I mean, Germans thought it was safe to vote for a certain party in 1936...

(Omg how's that for a gross exageration ;))

Well today was the big day.  Any thoughts?  Except that Michael Howard better be PM soon.

Ha ha ha, have you seen the results? The Tories have once again been put in their proper place. Into the dustbin of history with you!

Not that that ******* Tony Blair is much better, of course. Of the three main parties, the lesser evil were the Lib Dems. I'm still hoping for Labour to get rid of Blair and his New Labour clique and return to its socialist roots. But until then, I can't support them.

In England I would have voted for the Socialist Party, and in Scotland for the Scottish Socialist Party.

Well, not if you gather war parties to raid the English. ;D

Ummm, and the year was 1933, by the way. ;)

You're right! Scottish Independence can go hang, lets have Scottish domination! The capital of Britain will henceforth be Edinburgh, and the playing of bagpipes will be compulsory.

Incidentaly, I voted Lib Dem. No Green candidate up here. Grr.

The Lib Dems routed Anne Campbell here in Cambridge, to win a total of 62 seats (unless more come, but that's not likely), their highest since the Liberals in 1923. I think on vote share they may have beaten the SDP/Liberal Alliance in the 80s.

And my god, did anyone see Galloway's speech or his interview with Paxman?

Inteview video linked here (on the right).

As to me, I voted Lib Dem nationally, Green locally.

Ah, leave it to the Lib Dems to see the bright side of things...

Five reasons this result is bad for the Conservatives

1. The Conservatives have had their third worst share of the vote in over 150 years.

2. The Conservatives do not have an MP in any major British city outside London.

3. The Conservatives gained virtually no seats outside the south of England. In the whole of the north of England there were only three Conservative gains - Scarborough & Whitby, Lancaster & Wyre and Shipley. In Scotland they held on with one seat.

4. For every eight voters who have stopped voting for Labour since 2001, only one has voted Conservative.

5. The Conservative vote share of 33% is only 0.5% better than 2001. At this rate of increase the Conservatives will match John Major's 1992 vote share in 2085.

Cheers.

Anyone watch jon Stewart Daily Show about the British election? Showd clips of the town hall meetings for both the british and american election. Very different. I must say that the british one is not as fake as the american one. Cause they can bash their prime minister and not worry about getting censored.
