Online Hunting? FPS's don't get much more realistic than this...

HOUSTON - Hunters soon may be able to sit at their computers and blast away at animals on a Texas ranch via the Internet, a prospect that has state wildlife officials up in arms.

A controversial Web site, www.live-shot.com, already offers target practice with a .22 caliber rifle and could soon let hunters shoot at deer, antelope and wild pigs, site creator John Underwood said on Tuesday.

Texas officials are not quite sure what to make of Underwood

Dear lord, this is rediculous.  The concept of long-distance hunting with no restrictions or limit...ugh.

But what do I expect?  It's on a ranch in Texas.  Not a lot of good comes from those. :P

Not Hunting at all by any stretch, however on a technical note, after seeing the demo I couldn't help but think what a nice security upgrade it could be for a simple security cam. or something similar.

I suppose it would be alright if done in a controlled way, as to not lead to mindless killing of an infinite number of wild animals, and the profits went to something charitable...but really now, this is just ridiculous.

as a hunter, this is the most sick and disturbing thing I've ever heard about. This is not about going out in the nature watching the animals and maybe shoot a duck or a pheasant. This is killing for the reason of killing alone.

I doubt that any hunters will like this, if they will they are, in my eyes, disturbed, and not real hunters.

hunting isn't about killing some animal, but just as much about being in nature, caring for the wildlife, making sure that they live a decent life and if you end it, that it's ended with decency, This site is not at all about hunting, and it pisses me off!

After reading some of the "How it works" link I came across this at the bottom,

At all times during a shooting session, someone is at the shooting station and is available to answer questions (e-mail, instant messaging), provide assistance, and ensure a quality experience. This person has the ability to override the firing mechanism of the system to minimize the chance of a dangerous or illegal discharge from occurring.

Haha, I can see it now, Man kills 4 at shooting range, says mouse is to blame not gun.  ;D

This is stupid what is the purpose of killing deer in Texas while online in Germany that is not hunting that is killing just be killing. He had the nerve to say that it was technically an advancement for the sport of hunting only if your an idiot. This is nothing more than senseless killing.

"Underwood, 39, said he will offer animal hunting as soon as he gets a fast Internet connection to his remote ranch that will enable hunters to aim the rifle quickly at passing animals."

wow .. wonder if the new First Person Shooter games will adapt this technology.

or here is another idea....stick a bunch of prison inmates on a closed ranch.... mount the remote gun and call it Manhunt II.

As in having a security gurd working from home?

Here's another good example. you know how they air on the news showing the midnight convenience store employee getting robbed, shot what have you? well imagine that footage with this type of hidden security camera.  He may have robbed or even killed the clerk but, somewhere in another location  someone monitoring it is gonna be popping a cap in his ass as he leaves. Hell I would support that 100%. Shit, put the capping to real use, forget the deer.

Lol, prison DOOM. As you acquire more prison trophies, you get upgraded weapons also.  (You are victorious,....Scar5150 has pwned 75 inmates). ;D
