It's a brooch. I suspect that crossbow was at best a *much* later meaning of the word for brooch, since it looked like one of those.

I don't know much about byzantine armour, no...

and: I did not say the film was accurate to the book."

"is thera any way we can get some kind of agreement here?"

I'd love to, but I want to know what I'm agreeing with first!

well how about:

the essence is correct as where it follows the story as wtitten by Homer

or in other words, the story follows the sory of the book written by Homer?

Oliver Stone is a genius, one of my favorite directors. He has two huge problems though.

one, he is an asshole to the extreme.lol

two, sometimes his films are absolutely amazing (like Born on the 4th of July), and sometimes they are plain garbage, like The Doors for example.

So honestly I dont know what he will do with this film.

I have heard bad things from people who have seen it illegally, but then again I dont usually trust member reviews on IMDB. Still though from what I see in the previews, the movie looks like gladiator all over again, and that is a bad thing. Honestly, who wants to see some bad irish actor play alexander the great? beh.lol

But it isn't. For example, Agamemnon is, according to Homer, killed on his return home, nowhere near Dardanus.

It really seems to be just a jewel  ;D

What I like of antic-based movies is Gladiator. People made own story based on a fictional character, where ethos sometimes was even on a higher level than pathos. That was a good work, in my opinion.

you told that already, anmd I know Archilles was found in an Harem (is this correct English?) dressed like woman and Oddyseus found him when he stole the jewelry of the prinseses and punt them on a table asside whit a bieutiful sword of course archilles chose the sword as where the rest of the women chose the jewelry (could also be a fake attack where archilles was uncoverd but I thought it was the first)

Are there any other flaws? maybe I mist thgem then?

It was somehow that Achilleus' mother heard a prophecy, that he will die in the war, so she hid him between his sisters. Not sure if it was Odysseus, but someone rang for a military alarm, and all his sisters fled, while Achilleus took sword and thought he's going to fight attackers.

I am now officially of the opiniont hat Alexander will both blow and suck at the same time.

Want to know why?

'Cause in its new commercial the second critic quoted as saying it is great is Ben Mulroney.

BEN FREAK'N MULRONY!

I was lookin forward to this movie so much....

Its first trailer is exactly what Arthur's should have been.

Who the fuck is Ben Mulrony?

Damn, people really get emotional over this ;)

Btw, I read some Greek people are going to sue Oliver Stone because the character Alexander is a bisexual. How stupid can you get, any legitimate historian will tell you that Alexander did have relationships with men.

[hide]So I saw it.

A deeply flawed movie, but better than Troy. In fact, it would actually work well as a double bill, with Troy first, as the legend of Achille's is extremely important to the story.

The first (of only two) battle scenes is the best I've seen since Braveheart.

The three hours just flew bye. Didn't even notice how logn t was until I looked at my watch.

Some serious problems, with the narration and cutting from one time to another.

Also, Too gay. This isn't the Alexander presented by history, the man who might or might not have had a physical relationship with his best friend and fellow soldier (as was the norm at the time. Evidence for Alexander and Hephastian, or however you spell it, having this relationship was about 50/50). If Stone wanted to show he wasn't scared of the material, he sure proved that by spending way to much time cutting between meaningfull glances between Alexander and a bunch of very pretty mascara wearing men.

Show Alex and his buddy having a loving, caring relationship where they also had sex.

Fine. It was the way of the world. Got no problem with that. But, come on, don't but him in a harem with a hundred women and have him search out the one make-up wearing boy there, or start making out with him in front of his army. That probably would have been noted by history.

Also, why the claim he was assasinated in a conspiracy by all his generals? Seems like something added simply for a more dramatic ending.

Anyway, it was enjoyable enough, although it had its problems. That first battle alone was worth my $7. Real ncie to see real people isntead of CGI army generators.

Well it's playing now in the US i believe. I was wondering, has anyone seen it yet? Is it good? I'm rather excited about it. I did like the movie Troy and Gladiator a lot so can anyone tell me?

Thank you.
