Nope. Take it from somebody who studies law at a university, a life sentence is a life sentence. It's possible though that you can be released prematurely for some reason (good behaviour, for example).

Life sentence is the most laughable form of alibism I've ever seen. State not enough brutal to kill and yet not enough courageous to honor one's divine right for life.

Weird, I was told from various people that in ANY case a life sentence isn't a life time in jail, but nvm.

Well it does not matter what the law says, Mohammed B will probabley get about the same sentence as volkert van der G. which is 20 years.

You absolutly don't know anything about holland

"Life" sentence is approximatly 15 years.

Murder - max 15 years, if massa murder

Rape - like 10 years (my guess)

Stealing/Use of violence - 5 years MAX, normally around and often below 2 years

Stealing (lesser things, like trying to steal a bicycle) - up to 1 year

I know, i know, it sucks.

Artikel 10, lid 1, Wetboek van Strafrecht

The prison penalty is life long or temporary

Murder is punished with either life long imprisonment or a temporary imprisonment of 20 years max (12 years in practice) and rape is punished with 12 years max (8 years in practice). The other crimes you mentioned I don't know without looking it up.

Yep, and that isn't the only thing that has happend here these past few days, and also there was a train that went to Amsterdam from The Hague and at 1 AM, all the lights went off and a voice through the intercom said 'This train is in control of the Jihad'. I can't imagine what that must've been like...

And today there are problems in The Hague.

A couple of suspected terrorists are in a flat. The police tried to enter the flat last night and a handgranade exploded injuring 3 policemen.

Now the whole street is blocked and nobody is allowed to enter. Snipers, police military etc....

This looks like war zone.....

This is all shattering my stereotype perceptions of the Netherlands being a nice and calm place.

There have been more than a dozen arson attacks in the Netherlands against churches and mosques since Van Gogh's killing in Amsterdam more than a week ago. An Islamic school in Eindhoven was bombed Monday night, and another in Uden was burned down Tuesday. No injuries were reported.

Well, i was wondering when it would finally happen, other people taking revenge on islamic people/houses/whatever considering all the **** they do thesedays. (not only in the netherlands)

I wasn't clear was I? In american, a life sentace is merely 30years with parole

that's soem states. In the south, if you commit a murder such as that of van goghs then you are almost gaurenteed capitol punishment
