I joined the real ROTC in college  ;D It's so great. I took it in 9th grade before transferring to another school for the rest of my highschool career that didn't have JROTC. Well, now I got the real one  ;) My advice for you syeline is learn how to drill to the highest degree, go after school and be on the drill team, and compete in drill meets. I shot up to Staff Sergeant in just my 9th grade by being a good cadet in grades, being familiar with my chain of command, learning how to drill well, and competing in the drill meets. Good luck Syeline!

Its the Reserve Officer Training Command (I believe).  It is like their version of our ATC.  When I was out in Florida, I was in the JROTC.  I was showing them how to do drill properly (none of this poncy lazy ass way).  Was quite good fun as well, got me a hat, some tapes, and PT clothes from them.  As well as the medal!

damn lol that creed is gonna be fun to memorize cuz the others in my class dun kno it except my friend blake and the colonel and sargeant wer impressed! lemme right the creed up here

I am an Army Junior ROTC Cadet.

I will always conduct myself to bring credit to my family, country, school and the Corps of Cadets.

I am loyal and patriotic.

I am the future of the United States of America.

I do not lie, cheat or steak and will always be accountable for my actions and deeds.

I will always practice good citizenship and patriotism.

i will work hard to improve my mind and strengthen my body.

i will seek the mantel of leadership and stand prepared to uphold the Constitution and the American way of life

May G-d grant me the strength to always live by thi creed.

We have a slightly-similar program here in our secondary schools/pre-university(13 to 18) but it's called National Cadet Corps(NCC) and I am in it. Currently a Lance Corporal(you might call it Private 1st class) and going to be promoted by the end of this year to Corporal.

I think the ranks and the exact nature of things related to them differ between countries.

I don't particularly like the credo, though.

"I am the future of the United States of America"

Hm. Over here, that's called arrogance.

"i will seek the mantel of leadership"

Even if you're more use with a gun/trombone in your hand?

"May G-d grant me the strength to always live by thi creed"

Do they have separate ones for non-theists? They have all different oaths here for different religions if you become a minister of the Privy Council.

Sounds like the equivalent here the Combined Cadet Forces. Don'y know much about what they do, mind. They look awfully funny, though.

Today we were put into a company and divided into platoons and then individual squads. we have to goto the gym room for ROTC HomeRoom now insted of our regular homeroom. My sargeant and the colonal is impressed because i know like all the answers to the questions and i was the only first year answering them :D. i luv dat class

Maybe it isn't God...since it has that blank in the middle of the two letters, maybe it's Gad, Gad Howey, the national commander of the ROTC, so it isn't biased at all! :D

Me and EWS are both in the Air Cadets, as was Usul, who is now in the RAF.

ROTC: Reserve Officer Training Corps

The J stands for "Junior," meaning "High-School."

And AF is Air Force, A is Army, N is Navy, etc.  (I believe.)

I actually considered AFJROTC, but it conflicted with band.  And if you think marching in a hot uniform is bad, try doing while carrying one of these:

(No, that's not me.  But I do play Sousaphone/Tuba.)
