The Mars trilogy is my fav sci-fi series... And I don't find Robinson the least bit boring! You have to admit he puts a lot of scientific detail in his descriptions...

At this time Herbert is now in 5th place. Edric that author Kim Stanley Robinson I did not find on the list of names. What are some of the written titles by this person.

I can't find Robinson either... :(

He wrote the Mars Trilogy, meaning:

Red Mars

Green Mars

Blue Mars

...and he also wrote a few other novels that I didn't get to read yet. ;)

I almost bought that Mars Trilogy not too long ago. I still plan to purchase it. It's looks to be very interesting. Oh by the way Herbert is now 4th.

hmm, it won't let me sign in, strange...

Anyway, the only one of Chrictens books I really liked was timeline. The rest weren't that good (imho).

On a side note, Herbert is sort of an anti-Asimov. The Foundation series is basically about the ultimate triumph of technology & science. Herbert's earlier works, and to a slightly lesser degree Dune as well, are about the unreliability of science and technology, and how you can't tailor a surprise-free future for yourself. Read Timothy O'Reilly's "Frank Herbert" for some interesting insights into Herberts work.

cool

but in Foundation the humans lost.....

the invasion has already started and the person to save the humans was too late.... read the last part where they talked about the mentor... he was an alien from another species.... Technology didn't win
