Contaimelaters(sp)- The teleixu first takes old bodies(That's why they like to raidING sardukar tombs.) and select the best parts of each body.(For example they cut of an arm from this body and sew it on another, better body which is missing a good arm. than they keep adding on parts like decomposing heads and stuff. Finally they inject the virus and voila!

Well, it's been a while since I read Chapterhouse but as I recall, the actual "Tleilaxu flesh vats" are really just ordinary (though extraordinary are prefered) females of the species you are trying to recreate. Too much mutation would cause the female's body to reject the implanted embryo; however, with enough breeding I imagine new species could be created.

What's truely amazing, though, is that this is a similar practice to what is being debated in the scientific community today as far as cloning.

The term "flesh vats" was a propaganda ploy devised by the Bene Tleilax to prevent anyone from knowing just what their process of creating gholas involved. Furthermore, the idea that the Tleilaxu were using sanitized, sterile machines was probably an easier pill for the Landsraad to swollow than if they knew the truth.

Of course, I don't know what the Brian Herbert and KJA books say on it, if anything, and I do warn you that my own thoughts on the subject are merely an educated guess. I don't think anyone but Frank Herbert knew what the Bene Tleilax were really all about but if anyone has any more ideas or information to add, I'd certainly be interested in hearing them.

Didn't you guys see the Ordos opening sequence???

They use the DNA or genetic structure of Sardaukar and other people then they 'grow' them...

They can make a total mimic like the Emporer Saddash? or whatever his name is in the Ordos campaign

Contaminator are humans bred with a virus (thats why they look like that)

With the genetic coding they also make face dancers who can 'morph' into that particular genetic code

You should read the books Sven you don't know what your missing. I think ChapterHouse does explain what the Teleixu were about. With all the talk of cloning Herbert was way ahead of his time. Interesting.
