Yeah. 1500 members. It's a nice, round number. Just something I noticed while roaming the forum in an AD/HD-like boredom-induced haze.

Hot.

It would be nice if there was an 'activity rate' % stat on the forum stats to keep track of how active the members are in relation to the total number of registered members. I hate to imagine how many people register an account, then never post or never to rarely log in after the first time. This effectively means that although the member count may be high, the number of actual accounts that are active are quite low overall.

Ok quick total. 249 members online sometime in the last month. If you count only those with more then 5 posts it drops to 185.

If we go back to May 19th, two weeks, the numbers are 182 and 146.

i keep coming back. I am away sometimes, but thats due other stuff (Real Life, it exists... really!). Sometimes i am also very busy with another project (RealBot), so yeah. But anyways, very nice stats Gob!

sorry, for those who do not know what it is: http://realbot.bots-united.com

in short:

I started this somewhere in 2000, (august), it is a Bot (AI) that runs in the game Counter-Strike. Similiar like you can run bots in Quake 3 and such, although Counter-Strike requires more tactical thinking instead of run & shoot.

Its quite a big project itself, its open-source now via CVS. Ow, a nice detail imo is that i have had over 10.000.000 visitors wohoo :D

Yeah well, i've seen a couple of bots for counterstrike. So far they're ok but not too good. Usually if you play them for a while you understand how they think and you can kill them quite easily. I hope you can create something better :)

I've played bots that could choose between a couple of waypoint routes in which they would kill anything they see. However, would  you walk behind them you can make as much noise as you want, they would never react.

I also had a bot that was smarter and would go for hiding positions and have random paths. However they could sometimes get stuck and make stupid moves. Overall though this one was the better and the more challenging of the two.

I played it on a lan with my friend though in a 2 vs. 10 bots on hard skill level and we sometimes could beat them with just the standard pistol. So you get that if you kinda know the routine they're not too hard to beat. But if you don't know the routine they can be quite challenging.
