If I wanted to revert back to my previous browser for example IE would uninstalling Mozilla be the proper way to do it? I like the Mozilla browser but I did not copy all of my bookmarks from the browser, by the way I was using the Earthlink browser not IE. My bookmarks from the IE browser were transfered over but the Earthlink bookmarks were not and Mozilla is now my default browser am I over looking something?

Go to start, select "Set program access and defaults", and edit the info in the dialog that come up so that IE (or whatevr) is you default browser again.

So in other words, you can't turn off tabs.  Nuts.  I had to use Netscape Navigator for a bit (IE was acting up; I'm prone to messing things up when it comes to computers.  Thankfully I usually manage to fix them.  Somehow.), and the tabbed browsing drove me mad.  I'm used to opening in a new window by shift-clicking, whereas I had to try and get used to ctrl-clicking with NN, and even then, it opened the new windows as full-sized, instead of a smaller window, which made it a real pain to open multiple windows in new windows (such as opening many threads in this forum).

Just don't middle-click or ctrl-click and you won't ever open links in tabs. And if you do just use ctrl-tab instead of alt-tab. :)

It is a lot easier to just open a bunch of new tabs in the background from the board index then it is to open new windows that always steal focus.

That is the slight problem I am experiencing with Mozilla that websites I am visiting currently, behave different than before some are welcomed others come with a groan.

While visiting Fed2k I have to say using Mozilla is better than the browser I used before. It makes the site more condensed allowing more to be seen of the site. Once I work out my perferences I can enjoy more of what Mozilla has to offer as a browser.

Do forum smilies work properly in either FireFox 0.8 or Mozilla 1.6? (and by working properly I mean putting the smilies where your text cursor is when you click on them, not at the end)  And does all the text still seem to jump around when you're typing?  That hurt my eyes...If those bugs are fixed I'll switch back over for sure.

Yep, smilies work now (at least in Mozilla 1.6, haven't tried it in Firefox).  Also, I guess the text thing's fixed, I haven't noticed anything like that.

Crap...after installing Mozilla I realized it doesn't let you move around the toolbars and buttons like Firebird did.  Unless I've overlooked something...?

Maybe I'll just try FireFox 0.8

I use Mozilla Firefox.

Reasons:

* It's very fast

* It has only the functions you need(no mail client, no media tabs or other junk functions populating your button field in the top)

I still use IE for viewing online Windows Media content as Firefox just won't use WMP9...

Btw, the skins for it don't seem to work.

I don't care. I'd never change anyway.

What could be the cause of former webpages audio to be deleted now that I use the Mozilla browser. I downloaded the Java package but I still have no audio from certain pages maybe I am overlooking something any suggestions.

Err, I hate to bring this thread back to life, but I just got MoZilla, and it IS Netscape.  I had to download it to run a website which for some reason won't load in IE, and aside from the little dinosaur thing, it's identical to Netscape.  I don't mean identical figuratively, I mean literally the exact same.  What's up with that?

I think it has got something to do with the fact that they used Netscape code to start with, even used some of the same developers .. .

Well its more the other way around. Netscape is Mozilla. Netscape is basically a branded version of the Mozilla code that has stuff from AOL included.

The Mozilla code is much more recent though and probably more stable.

I always have been under the assumption that after Netscape a few years back stoped to be free a group continued with Mozilla. . ?

Posted

Well Mozilla is mainly the result of the work of programmers from Netscape although not so much these days. Current day Netscape browsers are just rebranded versions of Mozilla.

The thing you have wasted your time with might not have been Mozilla. . Netscape maybe used to be more advanced [ I hate that phrase :P ] then Mozilla at that time. Think for now Mozilla is more preferable then Netscape.
