I didn't say it was my opinion.

Besides, he did cause the deaths of thousands of people. Isn't that evil? Again, I speak not for myself.

So did Winston Churchill.  Is he evil?

IT dpends on wher eyou got your education, your perception of Napoleon.  Half the world views him as on of histories great heros (France, Italy, Poland, etc), the other half as histories great villians (England, Russia).

I see him as a great man. Others as an evil man. I don't mind which, but it fits in with Nostradamus if he's evil. If it was Napoleon he was refering too.

My personal opinion is that he wasn't referring to anybody in particular and was either

A) nuts

or

B) a publicity hound who found a good schtick and kept to it.

one thing is funny though a swastika is now a symbol of pure evil (I'm not whining about it) yet the hammer and sickle are perfectly fine for people to wear on shirts?

Sorry for the offtopic, it's just something that pisses me off.

Well actually it's the reversed swastika that's a symbol of Nazism. The swastika itself is a symbol of peace and hope. Ironic, isn't it?

And the reversed swastika was the symbol for a cruel and evil regime. The Hammer and Sickle wasn't the symbol for the stalinist regime, it was a symbol for communism, and thus equated to being a good thing.

Besides, it's more complicated to draw...  ;)

The right angled Swastika was used many years, and many places before it became the Nazi parties symbol.

As for the Hammer and Sickle, I know this wasn't Stalins invention, however Stalinism and cruelty is what I think of when I see it.

I don't find it complicated, I find it to be hypocratic, the fact is that both symbols, symbolizes evil, in my eyes at least.

What do you mean by 'right angled' exactly? It doesn't matter whether it's flat or on a point; what matters is whether it is 'facing' clockwise or anti-clockwise. If you meant angled to the right then that can be taken both ways as well.

Posted

sorry I misunderstood you.

as for the right angled I mean the swastika, hakenkreuz what ever has been used by many different cultures with different meanings such as life and peace. Some cultures had the Swastika as life and health while the the left angled "sauvastika" was a symbol for the opposite.

Well it seems a bit strange that not only did his phrophecies not disappear into obscurity, but the Nobles of Europe visited him,not the other way around,so why didn't they think he was a crank?

When I say nobles,I mean Kings and queens of Europe, even scholars and interlectuals.

you have to remember that when Nostradamus was making his prophecies in this 16th century , witchcraft , fortune tellers , sight_seerers , and mystics where prevalent , people from all classes , from the poor up too kings and Queens , where very superstitious ,and believed in fairies , goblins , witches and monsters , so an intelligent man like Nostradamus , could easily persuade the great un-washed to believe in anything he said , also his predictions where very vague , and often written in riddles , where as if he had have been blessed with the power of sight , why didn

Well the experts say he did it because he didn't think that man was ready to know what the future held, somehow I can understand that.

I'm not for or against his propecies,I just thought it was an interesting topic for a thread, and apparently it was. ;)

well about napoleon, it is one of those things where historians often write the rights and wrongs of history. Look of Julius Caesar, rarely have I heared people say he is a villain. Yet he killed supposedly close to a million gauls in his campaigns in europe. Along with many other white tribes. I wouldnt exactly call that heroic.

Also, witchcraft and the sort wasent exactly loved by many like you say shygirl. That is a very general statement. Few kings actually acknowledged that kind of stuff, but a few weirdos did. Even now days that is the case. Most of your real and scary type of "witches" and "warlocks" came from places like the black forests of germany. Some still exist to this day, but are rarely mentioned. If you want to read some creepy stuff, study the history of the people of the black forest.

Regarding Namp's comments on political symbols:

In recent history, the Swastika was used as a prominent symbol only once - by the genocidal nazi regime. It became a symbol of absolute evil because no one else other than the nazis used it. Not in the 20th century, anyway.

Also, the original owners of the Swastika haven't made any efforts to take their symbol back and change its meaning in the public eye.

The Hammer & Sickle, on the other hand, has been used by numerous different groups of people for the entire duration of the 20th century. It has been used by good communists as well as by evil stalinists. It has been used by people fighting for justice and freedom as well as by people enforcing brutal oppression. There were even several situations in which the soldiers on opposing sides in a battle used the Hammer & Sickle as their banner.

This diversity of uses is what makes the Hammer & Sickle a mostly neutral symbol today. It is not the symbol of any specific regime.

Personally, when I see the Hammer & Sickle, I think of its original meaning: a symbol of the unity between workers and peasants, a symbol of hope and liberation.

well i believe that maybe his prophecies were not all true but some came true and take it as u like but he was right in some things, i dont hear u saying in two hundred years there will be a yada yada yada, because u cant u would just be making a guess, and he did predict nine eleven in some way, he said in the new town of york the two pillars of height will fall. ? what does that mean> well take it as u may but i really believe in people that can make prophecies like that, if u dont then u are very closed minded and should think about the things u do believe. then try to be a hypocrite ok.
