With yesterday twilight started ramadan, muslim holy month. Who celebrates? ;D Anyway, there is permitted to eat each day before sunrise and after twilight, so the hunger starts this day, am I true?

Fasting is necessary for Moslem; to teaching your courage and put you feels to lower level, like the homeless, hungry, poor & people at the war :'( . This is also call Jihads to release us from selfish & abandoning another soul. In Malaysia some Hindus (and some Buddha) fasting as well Moslem. I believe Jews & some Christian also fasting isn’t ::)?

The Moslems fasting from 6am to 7pm not only to not eat any foods and drink, but also require your faiths to believe the Creation of the world and the existent of God. This is the time where you need to prove your loyalty, to not forget and remind you such many people dying around in poor country. :-

In some case some smokers try harder not to take any cigarettes at the time where Nicotine should react after 7 hours. Logically smokers/people can’t hold much longer than 7 hours because the Nicotine addict to the body however, their faith beyond science. ???

I’ve no problems fasting like my 8-year-old boy and I’m not force him. :)

If it was only in the Netherlands u could claim that most of the Muslims are not like that. However, surprising it is, it happens almost all over the world. For example look at Israel. We have more than a million Muslims in our country. They are being treated as equal as anyone else, they receive money from the government while basically many of them don’t work at all, They don’t want to study Hebrew (the language of the devil) or even worst many times ISRAELI Arabs done terror attacks against Israel or were caught helping terrorists. And there are many demonstrations they do in Israel where they call for the destruction of the state.

Is it possible to talk about muslim traditions and not hit their hostility with Jews? But in fact, I would say fasting is better form of celebration than suicide bombings. Especially on Red Cross facilities.

Well in my experiences with Turkish people, they tend not intrigate into the countries customs, that they are living in.

If through joining the EU this is not so strictly observed, then better intrigation will probably occur in time.

With that, they would maybe see each others side of an argument better.Instead of blindly following traditions that alienate them in foreign countries.

This also applies to other Asian countries nationals, that live in other countries and expect the host countries to adapt to their customs, rather than the other way around.

As the old saying goes "When in Rome".

If these people realised this maybe they would be happier to stay where they originated from, where their customs and rituals are accepted. ;)

As for the Ramadan, I've seen non-muslims and moslims smoking, drinking, etc etc. Some of them probably don't care about it.

Myself did Ramadan once(I am no muslim) for the fun of it, it was easy to keep up without eating and drinking, the drinking part however, was actually hard.
